Wars. Of course, they were forgetting that this wasn't Star Wars but Star TREK, which already had a loyal fan base who liked Trek because of good stories and believable, flawed characters, not flashy visuals or big explosions. As a result, the effects in ST:TMP are indeed something special - but they are mostly superfluous. The opening battle between the probe and the Klingons, along with the 'Warp-entry' effects, are pretty much the only eye-candy effects that should have been left in the film. There are three long sequences of 5 minutes-plus which are purely effects showcases, slowing the already pedestrian pace of the film down to a crawl - hence the Trekkie name for the film of 'Star Trek: The SLOW Motion Picture'. The one real bonus of the effects work on ST:TMP is that a lot of it was re-used for the infintitely superior sequel ...
Advantages: It's a beutiful and tragic story, your constantly feeling sympathy towards her and feel lucky that you weren't brought up like that. Disadvantages: It's makes you feel really down although it is very interesting.
This book was one of the best I have ever come across.
It is Adeline Yen Mah's tragic life, her very sad biography, how she was bought up to feel like she had no existence and very unwanted.
The story starts off by telling us about Adelin's birth, born the fifth child to an affluent Chinese family her life begins tragically. Adeline?s mother died shortly after her birth due to complications bought on by the delivery, and in Chinese culture this marks her as cursed or ?bad luck?.
This situation is enforced on her so much that when her father?s new marriage took place to a lady who has little affection for her husband?s five children. She displayed overt antagonism and distrust towards all of the children, particularly Adeline, whilst favoring her own younger son and daughter born soon after the marriage. The book outlines ...

Mr Slow is number 39 in the Mr Men book collection. He is a round shaped man and is light green in colour. He has a yellow round nose with a big white moustache and he wears a bright green hat.
