Advantages: Many tracks. Disadvantages: To many fillers.
famous album "Ogdens' Nut Flake" created around the fictional character Happiness Stan who goes looking for the other half of the moon. Because of the complexity of the album the band introduced Peter Frampton on guitar. In March 1969 Marriott left the band and formed a new outfit "Humble Pie". The SmallFaces recruited Rod Stewart (vocals) and a bit later Ronnie Wood (guitar) and renamed the band "TheFaces". The SmallFaces reformed around 1977 for 2 further albums but failed to create the success they previously enjoyed.

Advantages: Hear where your favourite indie rock band got some of their ideas! Disadvantages: Hear where your favourite indie rock band got some of their ideas!
For anyone who listens to Britpop, Indie or Northern Soul, the SmallFaces are an important point of reference. Listen to any Paul Weller effort (whether it be from the Jam, Style Council or solo era) and you will hear their influence stamped all over it. I would recommend this album as a starting point to anyone, who like me is interested in finding out a little bit about the influences surrounding some of the indie and rock bands making their mark today and tracing rock and pop's 'Family Tree'.
Formed in 1965 in London's East End, the group enjoyed a rather brief career before ...
Advantages: Full of soul, classic tunes and effortless cool Disadvantages: One or two classics missing
Any compilation of the SmallFaces is going to have it's work cut out trying to document the best work of the best Mod band. Forget The Who, good band though they were; these boys were the epitome of what Mod stood for, the sharp clothes, the cool, the drugs and most importantly the music.
These themes are constantly apparent throughout their work, for example the overt drug references in The Universal and Here Comes The Nice are hilarious when you think of how they went largely unnoticed in the 60s - when singer Steve Marriott croons "He knows what I want, he's got what I need, he's always there when I need some speed" about his dealer, you can't help but smile.
There's what seems like a million brilliant tunes here, most of them Steve Marriott and bassist Ronnie Lane compositions and a few well-chosen covers to boot. Red ...
