Kids In Glass Houses have become one of my favourite punk bands lately, I'm always on the lookout for new punk bands and artists so I was more than happy to have a listen when a friend leant me this album! I have somewhat of a loathing for mainstream artists who call themseves 'punk' when all they really are is dressed up boy/girl bands who sing (mime) cheesey pop, so I was glad that I hadn't heard of Kids In Glass Houses when I was told about them!I think that this band leans more towards the 'emo' genre rather than punk but there are definitely elements of punk here an there. If you like bands like Death Cab For Cutie, Cute Is What We Aim For or Hawthorne Heights then this album is probably worth checking out because they all share similarities.
The first song that really jumped out at me was the opening track; 'Fisticuffs'. Just the title made me want to listen. It gave me the impression of something for the mosh pit, I'm not sure why but that was just what I was expecting. Compared to the majority of the rest of this album, Fisticuffs is quite heavy. It's not one of those horrible screamo songs but the music itself sounds quite heavy. The first five to ten seconds of this song reminded me of Lostprophets-Every Day Combat which really put me off but the rest doesn't sound much like it thankfully!
The next track that I love is one that I'm completely addicted to! It's a track called 'Give Me What I Want'. The opening riff gets me everytime, it's nothing complicated it's just an awesome riff. This song is more pop-rock than the first that I mentioned but it's so catchy that I can't fail to love it. The chorus is brilliant too, and as well as that the lyrics are really well written so that every word sticks in the back of your mind. There's something about the lead vocalists voice that's almost hypnotizing, it's crazy but in a good way.
Another favorite of mine from this album is a track towards the end of the album called 'Dance All Night'. Again, this is another pop style song but it has more of the punk rock edge that is projected in the first track. The lyrics are consistanly brilliant throughout the whole album which is pretty rare with modern music so that just adds to the high quality of this album.
Tracklist
1. Fisticuffs 2. Easy Tiger 3. Give Me What I Want 4. Saturday 5. Lovely Bones 6. Shameless 7. Girls 8. Good Boys Gone Rad 9. Dance All Night 10. Pillow Talk 11. Raise Hell 12. Church Tongue
Overall, an extremely high quality album from a band that I think will go really far. If you haven't heard of these guys yet I'd definitely recommend giving them a chance, well worth a listen.

Advantages: Brilliant production of vocals, extremely catchy Disadvantages: They're WELSH! =P
Kids In Glass Houses have come up with the groundbreaking new debut album "Smart Casual", that will surely mark the first steps in their road to success.
One of the first things that struck me about this album was that pretty much any of the songs could have been singles - this band is definitely all killer and no filler.
Aled Phillips' vocals on every single track is near flawless, and remind me of both Ian Watkins (LostProphets) and Patrick Stump ... ...The tracks "Gimme What I Want" and "Easy Tiger" are definitely dangerously infectious, and their catchy vocals and melodies will have you frantically nodding your head and tapping your feet within a matter of seconds.
As far as Welsh bands go, KIGH are surely one of the best since Funeral For A Friend & LostProphets. Be warned - these guys are going to be big! ...

An excellent CD. Top stuff from this new up and coming band. They're a welsh sort of emo powerpop band with upbeat catchy tunes. Top songs would be Easy Tiger and Raise Hell if you want to download a couple before buying them. Best thing would be to just check out their myspace where you can listen to songs. http://www.myspace.com/kidsinglasshouses They're like nothing you've ever herd before but if you like Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Paramore and band like that you'll probably like them
10/10 for this debut album!

Advantages: Great riffs, lyrics and perfect for dancing round crazily when no1s watching Disadvantages: A few songs very similar to others
My brother is the kind of teenager who will go and see any band just for the sake of seeing them, and half the time i ignore him when he relays the tale of the gig. But Kids In Glass Houses were one of the few bands i have in common with him. With hits such as 'Gimme What I Want', 'Easy Tiger' and more recently 'Saturday', this album is set to be a giant rock leap forward in their career. The musical ability is tight for a group of this age and with ...

Advantages: Amazing catchy album with all the tracks constistently delivering Disadvantages: One or two songs from the E.P didnt make the album which is shame
...My friend originally introduced me To KidsInGlassHouses, convinced i would love the music....and she was right.
I watched them support Cute is What We Aim For at Leeds Cockpit, which made me want to buy their E.P, and then a year or so later they released their album SmartCasual and now have sell- out tours and a giant fan base!!!
All of the songs are catchy, upbeat and the vocals have a slight welsh twang to them. I would find it impossible to pick a favourite song as I love them all, it is a perfect summer album to sit in the garden and have a sing song to.
They have now released several songs from the album and the videos to go alongside are well worth a watch, i recommend Saturday as the video is imaginative and the song is catchy and will have u humming the chorus for the rest of the day.
Also worth a mention...

Album Notes: Debut album from youthful Cardiff powerpop quintet whose influences range from 80s pop heroes like Prince and The Police, through Britpop acts such as Stereophonics and Blur, all the way to hardcore staples Refused and Glassjaw. The resultant concoction is a gloriously melodic, slick, super-catchy and restlessly propulsive racket which has seen kids pogoing all over the UK. Includes the singles 'Easy Tiger', 'Give Me What I Want' and 'Saturday'.
