Kids In Glass Houses have become one of my favourite punk bands lately, I'm always on the lookout for new punk bands and artists so I was more than happy to have a listen when a friend leant me this album! I have somewhat of a loathing for mainstream artists who call themseves 'punk' when all they really are is dressed up boy/girl bands who sing (mime) cheesey pop, so I was glad that I hadn't heard of Kids In Glass Houses when I was told about them!I think that this band leans more towards the 'emo' genre rather than punk but there are definitely elements of punk here an there. If you like bands like Death Cab For Cutie, Cute Is What We Aim For or Hawthorne Heights then this album is probably worth checking out because they all share similarities.
The first song that really jumped out at me was the opening track; 'Fisticuffs'. Just the title made me want to listen. It gave me the impression of something for the mosh pit, I'm not sure why but that was just what I was expecting. Compared to the majority of the rest of this album, Fisticuffs is quite heavy. It's not one of those horrible screamo songs but the music itself sounds quite heavy. The first five to ten seconds of this song reminded me of Lostprophets-Every Day Combat which really put me off but the rest doesn't sound much like it thankfully!
The next track that I love is one that I'm completely addicted to! It's a track called 'Give Me What I Want'. The opening riff gets me everytime, it's nothing complicated it's just an awesome riff. This song is more pop-rock than the first that I mentioned but it's so catchy that I can't fail to love it. The chorus is brilliant too, and as well as that the lyrics are really well written so that every word sticks in the back of your mind. There's something about the lead vocalists voice that's almost hypnotizing, it's crazy but in a good way.
Another favorite of mine from this album is a track towards the end of the album called 'Dance All Night'. Again, this is another pop style song but it has more of the punk rock edge that is projected in the first track. The lyrics are consistanly brilliant throughout the whole album which is pretty rare with modern music so that just adds to the high quality of this album.

Overall, an extremely high quality album from a band that I think will go really far. If you haven't heard of these guys yet I'd definitely recommend giving them a chance, well worth a listen.
