Sandi Thom is a 26 year old singer from Scotland. Her debut Album Smile... It Confuses People sold over 700,000 copies when it was released. It has 10 songs on it.

1. When Horsepower Meant What it Said - An upbeat, classic country song about horses (as if you couldn't get). It is about going back to the old days and getting the horses out of our cars and back on the roads.

2. I wish I was a Punkrocker - The perfect song to dance and sing to. It consists mainly of Sandi's voice and various types of percussion including tambourine, drums and hand claps. It was Sandi's first single to be released and wet down a storm.

3. Lonely Girl - A more soulful, slow song to include piano but Sandi starts to show the power in her voice. The title is rather self explanatory.

4. Sunset Borderline - This song is definatley one you chill out to and dream of sea, sand and surf. Mainly guitars this time.

5. Little remedy - Upbeat song. I find the symbals in this song slightly annoying but it adds to the optimism of the song and still manages to make you smile. It is the start of spring and this is the perfect song to wake up to.

6. Castles - Slow chillout song. Guitar, piano and soft drums. The theme is dreams and time.

7. What if I'm right - The second single that was released. More upbeat than the last few. Quite a comic song you can imagine the scene.

8. Superman - A ballad. Slow. I love the first line 'some of us are reaching for stardust, othes are digging for gold'. It is another country sounding song but with elegant piano in it.

9. Human jukebox - A upbeat song with what sounds like horse hoofs. Another countryish song, you can just imagine the barn.

10. Time - My favourite song on this album. A slow ballad about the passage of time. Sandi's voice is quiet and high and carries this song wonderfully.

Sandi has a wonderful and the lyrics are original. Th music is quite diverse having different elements but still having a few themes like chill out and then upbeat dancy ones. However many of her songs talk about time and whilst this is a good link between the songs I found it to be depressing because I am going to university soon and it made me think about all the things I will miss. This is my situation and others will find it different. A perfect first Album which I haven't stopped listening to. Great if you like Leona lewis and Amy studt.
