......Introduction...
I first heard of India Arie when I saw her on Later With Jools Holland when she released this album in 2001. She was born
India Arie Simpson on October 3, 1975 in Denver Colorado, her father Ralph Simpson was an NBA Player and her mother Joyce was a former singer herself.
India started having an interest in music at an early age and she pretty soon started learning to play various instruments. Though She is most well known for playing the guitar. She was discovered by a motown executive in 1999 and two years later released her debut album Acoustic Soul.

She has a great voice that has a substantial range allowing her to sing some great tender moments and then errupt in a fantastic almost gospel like chant. One of the best singers in her genre and similar to Lauryn Hill's more tender...

Advantages: soulful, amazingly sexy Disadvantages: takes a few listens to appreciate it
...This CD definitely grows on you.Her sound is so unique that it takes a few listens to appreciate it, but please do!!!Unlike other big voiced warblers, Tweet's voice is very understated and soulful.
When i first bought this CD, i loved all the fast paced tracks, such as Oops, Boogie 2nite (recently covered by Booty Luv, though not nearly as good as Tweet's version!) and Sexual Healing. I wasn't so keen on the slower tracks because, like her voice, they are quite understated and on first listening sound a bit bland. However, since listening to the CD more, it is now these tracks that i love the most!what at first seemed to lack oomph became my perfect relaxing music. It is also extremely sexy, and she doesn't shy away from expressing her sexuality which I like alot. All in all, if you like artists like D'angelo,

The album opens with Hey Dude, a blatant rocker with the chorus "Hey dude, don't lean on me man cos I'm losing my direction and I can't understand". It is a fantastic song, with great energy. There are a number of similar style songs on the album, such as Grateful When You're Dead, 303, Knight On The Town and Smart Dogs. These all give that dusty air guitar everyone owns a welcome usage.
However, perhaps the best parts of the album are the songs with the Indian/Hindu influence. Though slated by some on its release, after a few listens Govinda is nothing short of beautiful, and makes my...
