Advantages: Ian Brown, Back to his best. Disadvantages: Not on long enough
Ian Brown, the man behind The Stone Roses is back with his 4th solo album, following on from his previous 3 Unfinished Monkey Business, Golden Greats and Music Of The Spheres.
The man himself doesn't disappoint starting off with Longsight M13, not a bad way at all to start the album, (It's about seeing the graffiti in Manchester saying "Free Ian Brown", i'm taking this was done when he was in the nick.)
The ... ..."Time Is My Everything" and "Destiny or Circumstance". Don't get me wrong, every song on this album are class and a breath of fresh air in todays pop infested kids music "culture", but these 2 by far stand out.
You may have seen Mr Brown on some music channels along with a one Noel Gallagher who he wrote "Keep What Ya Got" with, this, is the flagship song for his album, I guess it's more light ... more

The best 2 songs on the album in my opinion are "Time Is My Everything" and "Destiny or Circumstance". Don't get me wrong, every song on this album are class and a breath of fresh air in todays pop infested kids music "culture", but these 2 by far stand out.
You may have seen Mr Brown on some music channels along with a one Noel Gallagher who he wrote "Keep What Ya Got" with, this, is the flagship song for his album, I guess it's more light than any of the others to ween people who have never listened to "The Monkey Man" himself into this sort of music.
You'll hear a wide range of influences in this album, including an arabian (or so I think) inspired track, but saying that it was wrote by his guitarist (Aziz Ibrahim) and Ian.
Keep up the good work Ian and keep it consistant, we need people like you to keep the manchester vibe in music alive.

Advantages: Good Album! Disadvantages: Not a patch on the previous two!
IanBrowns latest outing is a good album but will leave you somewhat disappointed after listening to the previous two albums 'Solarized' and 'Music of the Spheres'. Although there are good songs on this LP, it is more disjointed than the previous two, feeling that the man has reached his peak on his previous two outings. There is no real 'wow' factor about any of the songs with exception to the duet with Sinead O'Connor 'Illegal Attacks' which is more reminiscent to his earlier works. If only he could have kept this style going for the whole of the album then it would get much better praise. IanBrown stays put with his usual delivery of lyrics and swaggering but laid-back manner using loops, string sections and good old drums and guitars for good measure. This is especially apparent on tracks like 'Sister Rose' and 'Save Us' that fuse ...
SOLARIZED is former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown's fourth solo outing. Like his legendary first band and previous solo albums, SOLARIZED combines heady electric guitar sounds, club-derived dance beats, winding Middle Eastern-themed melodies, and memorable pop hooks. There are idiosyncratic flourishes here and there, like the loungy, down-tempo trip-hop of "The Sweet Fantastic" and the mariachi-styled horns on "Time Is My Everything," but, for the most part, Brown sticks to the groovy, swirling guitar-based Brit-pop he does best. Opener "Longsight M13" leads off with a snake-charmer verse, orbiting guitar leads, and electronic frippery before sinking into the heavy dance groove of the chorus. The expansive melody of "Destiny or Circumstance" proves Brown has retained his ability to construct durable tunes, while "Kiss Ya Lips (No I.D.)" rides a jumpy, infectious house beat. "Keep What Ya Got" was co-written by Oasis figurehead Noel Gallagher, and the resulting single (which bears traces of both Oasis and the Stone Roses) is a textbook example of minor-key Brit-pop. The album is shot through with deeply textured production and effects, backwards guitar, and massive solos in ways that should please Brown fanatics.
