Somberlain, The - Dissection

Advantages: Perfection. Perfect songs, perfect vocals, perfect music, perfect album.
Disadvantages: The frontman is a member of the Misanthropic Lutherian Order and a murderer.

...Dissection are not one of the better known bands amongst my contemporaries within the field of Black Metal music. Indeed, I myself only thought about listening to their music because their t-shirt designs were, frankly, a cut above any others in the Nuclear Blast catalogue. So, when it comes down to it, is the music as good as the artwork? Well, yes, it is actually. Dissection are not your average 'run-of-the-mill' Black Metal band you know. It's not sprinkled with blastbeats here and there just to add a little variety, and the songs are more musical than not, if you can see where I'm coming from. They actually have tunes and melodies! Advantages: Atmospheric, Excellent Guitar, Well Written
Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste

...This album goes back a long way with me. I remember hearing it a long time back and I havn't stopped listening to it since. Awesome fast guitar riffs and double-base drum driven percussion drive this album, and with screatching vocals dominate the instruments. This is their second album and in my opinion is deffinatly one their best. The quality is quite high and everything can be heard easily. The intro opens the album perfectly and each track flows through from there. Dissection is one of those bands which are excepted by both the Death metal and Black metal scene. Both genres can be heard throughout this album. Overall I would highly recommend Storm Of The Light's Bane, it is a brilliant album and deffinatly worth buying.... Read review

Advantages: lyricism (upto a point), production.
Disadvantages: 'Drips', extensive length.

..., but that said, you've gotta go some to sell as many units as Em did, and all that in a mere six years. 'The Eminem Show' serves as something of a self-autopsy - dissecting and digging deep within - resulting in an over-the-top no-holds-barred attack at both the world around him, as well as those slightly closer in situation. He hates his mother, we know that. He hates the media, we know that. But this just reinforces that knowledge, in exceptionally literate fashion. There's no denying that the tale gets old toward the end of the discs 19 tracks - but for a fleeting, fantastic few minutes, it's alike nothing else done in the last few years. Brilliant. Beautiful. And damn crude with it. Gone are the slapstick lines that culminated in the likes of 'The Real Slim Shady' from Em's 'Marshall Mathers LP' release, and in their place come a new found... Read review
