Album Reviews: Spin (5/93, p.80) - Highly Recommended - "...[filled with] dewy-eyed spirituality....maybe this album won't empty bedrooms and fill church pews with suddenly fulfilled Mode fans, but it proves that the devil doesn't always have the best tunes..."
Advantages: Some almost sublime tracks Disadvantages: And some pretty average ones
...'s part in this with 'I don't want to start any Blasphemous rumours, but I think that God's got a sick sense of humour'. The track has great lyrics, delivered with real feeling and some superb sonic elements adding real emotion to accentuate the words. A good one to crank up load and sing along to and a fine end to the album.
Ciao's listing mentions 3 other tracks, Pipeline, Everything Counts and Two Minute Warning which aren't on my CD so I can't comment on those.
Unlike the later Black Celebration which was a more cohesive album, this one is rather patchy and despite the excellence of Blasphemous Rumours and Somebody, on the whole it's not a great album and so I can't really recommend it which is a pity as you can never have too many DepecheMode fans....

Black Celebration opens with a track of the same name which immedietly sets the scene with a song about escaping from the misery of the daily grind of life - the black celebration being the celebration of surviving the black day. With a slow but mesmorising build up to some more bombastic elements and industrial sounds, the lyrics lay out the album...

...I'm back with a new review. Some of you already know that I really enjoy depechemode. That's why I'll try (only try because it is really hard for me to write in English) to make you know and enjoy "construction time again".
Immortal! That's how I can name this beautiful album.
"Construction time again" is the third depechemode's album.
Remember…
1981: "speak and spell" is their first album. It's new! Four young men managed to make a really good first album… not perfect, but really good…
Vince clark leaves depechemode. Some people were sure that was the end… but…
1982: martin gore becomes the group's songwriter and 'broken frame' is the first album written by martin. Many people think this one is the worst depechemode's album. Not really.
1983: "construction time again" is the third album. What's new with it? Alan...
