Winner of American Idol, Carrie Underwood has a powerful and sensational voice that fuses together pop and country. The album combines upbeat and high tempo songs with softer ballads. "Some Hearts" is an album that has something for everyone.

Advantages: A strong album with catchy tunes and a beautiful voice Disadvantages: A few weak links on the album, no lyrics included
...'SomeHearts' is the multi-platinum, award winning debut album from the 4th series winner of American Idol, CarrieUnderwood. The album comes under 'Rock and Pop' but I fell it is very 'Country' oriented with a 'Rocky' edge to it on some tracks. There are 13 tracks on the album, with 1 bonus track. Carrie hasn't written any of the tracks on this album, would like to see her writing skills go to work on the next one, be more personal.
I am a sucker for American Idol, and was pleased when Carrie won as she stood out with her modest attitude and beautiful voice, singing just about anything! Carrie has a great story too-A young woman who loves to sing, coming from a humble background growing up on her family's farm in America.
If you love music that incoporates thoughtful lyrics, acoustic guitar with a great voice, you will love this...

Advantages: Strong country material, Underwood's pure voice, great production Disadvantages: A couple of generic pop songs
...A great album that surpassed many expectations from the winner of the 4th series of American Idol, the US version of Pop Idol.
The CD contains all 6 of Underwood's singles to date: Jesus Take the Wheel, SomeHearts, Wasted, Before He Cheats, Don't Forget to Remember Me, and Inside Your Heaven, the 'Idol song', as a bonus track.
The CD certainly allowed Underwood to gain a strong foothold in the country market, but also as a crossover artist, with several pop songs, including some written by Diane Warren, belted out in her clear pure voice. The strongest songs are the singles, as well as The Night Before, and the country songs here stand out as the most memorable. The poppier songs are a little generic, saved by Underwood's delivery.
In fact, Inside Your Heaven stands out as the weakest song on the album, tacked on as it is...
