... Something Kid Koala does very well.
FLU SEASON (1:10)
Samples, scratching, beat boxxing all mixxed into a filler for the album. It doesn't really show any real skills on sample mixxing which is what I think it was put in there for. Again, adds nothing.

Dizzy Gillespie's band in 1946. He's played in a variety of settings since then, and has always returned to the trio format (he formed his first one in the late 40s, with pianist Hank Jones). This release is part of a continuing series that has teamed Brown with a variety of singers, trumpet players, saxophonists and pianists. Here the 75-year-old Brown augments his regular trio (pianist Geoff Keezer and drummer Karriem Riggins) with a half-dozen guitarists. From the snappy articulation of Herb Ellis to the big-bodied warmth of Kenny Burrell and the smooth coolness of John Pizzarelli, these dozen performances are a veritable tour through contemporary traditional stylists. The repertoire is a mix of standards and a few originals, with Burrell's gorgeous "Soulful Spirit" (dedicated to Billy Higgins) bringing the set to a close with quiet grace and emotional resonance.--David Greenberger

Advantages: It comes with a comic book Disadvantages: Its odd, very odd
...modern and we're treated to some minimilist scratching. Nothing much happens in this song and it can be a bit of an anti-climax compared to the excelent work on the previous tracks. Thats my only downside of it, it not as strong.
GRANDMAPHONE SPEAKS (0:14)
A sample, nothing else. Doesn't add anything at all.
SKANKY PANKY (3:24)
Have you ever seen odd little french animations. There was one about 3 old women and one of them trying to find her ... ...horns, litter this tune and some very simple drumming does give it a very continental feel to it. The pitch blending and scratching jumps the horns around in such a way that it gives a multi-layered feel to it. Later in the song it becomes a tad more modern and bouncey with some obvious DJ effects and a heavier bass line. Very funky this one, I like it. Its both classic and modern at the same time. Something Kid Koala does very well.
