Advantages: The best of all the "Cracker" stories Disadvantages: Can be a little unpleasant at times
From the very first episode, I was a huge fan of "Cracker". It was mostly Fitz's job that caught me, as I had an interest in psychology and the thought of using that to see into the minds of criminals and prove them guilty seemed like a pretty cool idea to me. That made Fitz something of a hero of mine, although he's perhaps one of the more unlikely role models, being a heavy smoker, drinker and gambler. But that didn't matter, as he was helping to clear the streets of the worst of human nature, like any superhero.
In "To Be A Somebody", Fitz comes up against the very worst of human nature. Albie Kinsella seems like any normal man, separated from his wife, but getting by the best he can although life has struck him a cruel blow with the recent death of his father. He's a man on the edge and a minor argument with a shop keeper sends ...
Advantages: Enlightening opinion from a mothers point of view Disadvantages: Couldn't help but wonder....Is she on the band wagon ?
A brief synopsis.
Love Ellen by Betty Degeneres is a true story of how a mother dealt with her famous daughter coming out as a lesbian.
What made me want to read this book ?
Personal experience. When I came out to my mum 13 years ago the response wasn't great and it still isn't after all this time. I thought maybe reading this book would help me understand why. The result was in fact the opposite.
How it is written.
The book is written from Betty's (the mum in the story) point of view. It is semi diarised and autobiographical.
What it's about.
It briefly looks at Betty's childhood and upbringing. Explaining some traditional family values and how she was brought up to understand how a 'normal' life should be.
Very quickly the book moves on to how Ellen told her mum she was gay and the initial response that she ...
Advantages: Fabulous clothing range, great sale Disadvantages: Slow delivery, inability to manage account
colours, which isn't always the case when shopping online.
Product range
The sizing is good and they don't just do clothes for ultra skinny runners - the collections start from an XS (size 8) and go to an XL (size 16), but most are available from S - L (10 - 14).
Most of the clothing available on the website is Sweaty Betty's own, but they also sell the Stella McCartney range for Adidas, and in the accessories section they sell Asics, Nike, MBTs and FitFlops. I've now bought a good range of clothing from here - a number of yoga tops, some running shorts, some capris for aerobics, a running vest top, and some trainers - and I've been thoroughly impressed with the quality of all of it. I particularly love the little details - my running top has a little zip pocket in the back - so discreet but just big enough for you to fit your house key ...
