Advantages: Fun and Entertaining Disadvantages: Predictable storyline
This is quite a nice romantic comedy about a successful professional woman Kenya McQueen played by Sanaa Lathan moving up high on the corporate ladder, but along with her friends still looking out for love and not having much success. Then she goes on a blind date and meets her soul mate Brian Kelly played by Simon Baker only he doesn't fit Kenya's idea of the ideal man. The rest of the movie deals with how Kenya has to battle her own growing feelings for Brian even when she doesn't get whole hearted approval from her family and friends. A further spanner is thrown in the works when a new love interest turns up and Kenya has to decide whether she's going to go with her heart or her head.
I didn't find this wildly hilarious but it was entertaining. The plot is pretty much predictable there's no surprise in how the story will end but ...
Advantages: Classic 80's cult road movie Disadvantages: Aged a bit
of the song Wild Thing ending the movie with Rap artiste Sister Carol, who had a short but successful reign in New York around this period.
The movie has lots of nice cameos including Russ Meyer regular Charles Napier, director John Waters, Oscar Winning Kenneth Utt (Silence Of The Lambs Producer) , John Sayles, and comedienne Margaret Colin. All the cameo's to some extent helped to get Jonathan Demme seen as an actor, and their weight in this project took it from the obscure to being a mainstream movie. While being very much a mainstream movie Something Wild is definitely a cult movie, and when presented in Alex Cox's (acclaimed director) movie show Moviedrome he declared it as being one of his all-time favourites.

Advantages: A fun little film Disadvantages: A little too ludicrous at times
until the pair gets engaged to their partners. This simple act sends them both into overdrive although their friendship is still relatively tight until a botch up at the wedding planners means both their weddings are booked for the same day.
The problem is easily solved however?. One of them will simply have to change their wedding date and venue. Won?t they? Oh no, neither of them will budge. Liv refuses to move simply because she is the stubborn one and Emma refuses to do so out of principal ? something in her life has got to be done solely for her. From this point on the battle of the brides is on and it?s simply a question of who has the guts to go all the way.
Like I said earlier I wasn?t expecting a lot from this film but did find myself chuckling at quite a few points in the film. Ultimately the plot is rather ludicrous and I ...
