Pam doesn't do at all bad in this sexy and stylish big screen outing. Her man-made curves are completely appropriate for this comic book style adventure, and the costume designer and director make best use of them for the duration of the movie. She employs a soft purr for Barb and sticks with it. Pam is undeniably extremely sexy, and even if your mind keeps telling you she ain't real, your pants just aren't listening. There are no attempts at fancy phrasing, she just delivers her lines flat but is at least as good as say Arnie or Sly.
Apart from Pam's undeniable screen presence the film is a stylish but pretty routine action movie. It steals from films like Batman, Starwars and even Casablanca but never offensively so. With the action and sexuality on display this is definitely a "guy" movie. But this guy for one will be back ...
Advantages: good film Disadvantages: gets cheesy at times
BARBWIRE is based on a comic book of the same name published by Dark Horse Comics. It stars Pamela Anderson as Barbara (the ‘BarbWire’ of the title), a biker babe who owns a nightclub in the only neutral city left during the second American Civil War.
The film is really just an excuse for Anderson to show off her body, and what a phenomenal body it is. There was a lot of talk in the media about how her ‘assets’ were surgically enhanced (and they have apparently since been surgically ‘de-hanced’) and this film is really just an excuse for her to show how her money was spent.
As a film, it’s not good (it has pretensions to be CASABLANCA but there is no talent either in front of or behind the camera to justify this), but for voyeuristic young men everywhere it’s a delight! If that is ...
Advantages: First three, four minutes maybe Disadvantages: Weak, far-fetched, poor performances, poor everything
Indeed, probably the only one-liner/tagline that has outlived the film it?s associated with. ?BarbWire?, a Dark Horse comics adaptation vehicle for the voluptuous Pamela Anderson made almost nine years ago now hasn?t exactly left a good impression on the quality control of cinema (not to mention my own review list). But look at it this way: ?BarbWire? isn?t exactly a masterpiece, in fact it is anything but. It makes ?Mission To Mars? an enjoyable time worth spending, but being a connoisseur of the cinematic medium I don?t mind watching terrible films (as long as I don?t have to pay for it). The reason for this is after you?ve watched something as lacklustre as ?BarbWire?, it makes you appreciate the true masterpieces (?Godfather?, ?Shawshank Redemption? spring to mind among others) all that extra more?
Unlike most typical comic ...
