Advantages: Stunning, both musically and vocally Disadvantages: Could have been longer
...throat cancer scare. The songs on the album have clearly been picked in the light of his marriage break-up with Rachel Hunter, and what a wonderful collection of love won and lost they are.
Rod has chosen tracks written by brilliant songwriters such as Curtis Mayfield, Macy Gray and John Reid, and his interpretation of them has made them all his own. Most deal with lost love, unrequited love or love from afar, but others celebrate the triumph of the human spirit through dark times and his love of music.
Musically, the album is laid back and slinky, combining old fashioned r'n'b and soul with some very groovy backing tracks. Against this backdrop, Rod's impassioned vocals provide a stunning contrast.
It's rare to find an album where you like every track, but this is the one for me. Stand out tracks for me are the Macy Gray penned...

Advantages: All the very best on one cd. Disadvantages: none
...This is the only Rod Stewart cd that i own. All of his best songs are here. I particularly wanted the track = Rhythm of my heart, as its been a favourite of mine for a long time. Having listened to both cd,s i find myself liking everything about it. I bought it used from ebay and at a very reasonable price, especially for a double cd. As he now seems to be singing the old crooner type of songs i don,t expect to be buying any more, definately not my thing, even though i love his voice, i really dont like the " sinatra " stuff. The days of " Maggie May " when he was a bit of a rocker, is much more my thing. he says = Do you think i,m sexy. well in my opinion yes, yes , yes. like a lot of singers he gets better with age. If you are looking for a good rounded selection of Rod,s best song,s , then you need look no further....

Advantages: Great Singer Disadvantages: Bit of a Poser
...a Story” which had Maggie May on it but it also had this brilliant track called Reason to Believe. It is one of my favourite all time album tracks.
I have memories of Rod Stewart singles running through my life but one of them was “I don’t want to talk about it”, released on the album Atlantic Crossing in the summer of 1975. This I have to say is my all time favourite album by Mr Stewart. The album has sad memories of a girl that was not to be, and a good friend who went out with her behind my back..
Anyway he continued to release hit after hit and another classic was “The killing of Georgie” from the album A Night on the Town. He had so many hits I just don’t feel the need to type them all out.
Everyone must have at least one Rod single that reminds them of something in their life, he’...
