...Al Martino's biggest claim to fame is that he was the first artist to have a UK No 1 single. When the very first Top 40 was published in November 1952, his "Here In My Heart" sat proudly on top of the pile. It's nice to think that whatever else can happen in your career, they can't take that away from you.
What fun it is to look at that first chart. All those greatsingers like Mario Lanza (a close friend of Al's), Vera Lynn, Guy Mitchell and…..er, Max Bygraves with the immortal "Cowpuncher's Cantata". But we're getting off track somewhat so back to Mr Martino.
He was born Alfred Cini in Philadelphia on 7/10/27 and began his singing career with help from Mario Lanza, the Italian-American opera singer. Indeed it was Lanza who passed over the opportunity to record "Here In My Heart" that allowed Al Martino his big break...

Advantages: full of love songs, all sort of songs from R&B tunes to hip hop Disadvantages: it ends too guickly
...I bought this record because I'm a big fan of Whitney Houston, but I didn't know it would be so special album. I listened it really much last summer when my heart was broken by this British lad...it has such a good love songs from all kind of women artist. This record is so full of Girl Power. There's songs by divas like Aretha Franklin and there's some songs of new hip hop acts. It's basically a mixture of hip hop and R&B. I definetely enjoy listening whithey Houston tracks but I love other singers too like Brandy. This is definetely a hit album and I guess it's a great gift for a girl or a women whatever age you are!...

A classic Punk album. Review ofCrossing The Red Sea With The Adverts - Adverts (The)by
JohnnyMoped
Advantages: Overall sound of early Punk captured. Disadvantages: Sounds dated.
...From Jane Suck's title in this is a greatrecord. Lead singer T.V. Smith came to show he was the spokesmen for other "Bored Teenagers" and songs like "New Day Dawning" and "GreatBritish Mistake" proved him right. The overall sound of the album is one of youth; articulate wordplay abounds and there is some great guitar work from Howard Pickup. An early poster claimed the Adverts only knew one chord.... but WHAT a chord! Oh, and there was Gaye Advert too, who with her panda-like eyes became the Punk sex symbol!...
