Advantages: Heavy Electro-Rock, German is the Perfect Language for the music... Disadvantages: However, the language barrier may put some off. I recommend you ignore it.

Yes, that’s right, Rammstein have chosen to communicate their musical message to the world in their mother tongue. Wait! Don’t run! It actually works really well! Why no-one has thought of combining Metal with this truly guttural, harsh language, I’ll never know, but the end result is amazing.
OK I’ve got a confession to make at this point; I haven’t really bought this Maxi-CD, I’ve seen the video for this track on a promo tape, and I’m in the process of listening to the album, “Mutter”, for a later review. That should follow by the end of the week.
That said, were you to find the single and were curious about the band, I would heartily recommend it. The verse is all grinding guitars and guttural vocals. We really see the advantage of the language, Till, the singer being able to create a powerful vibe without resort to tawdry “Cookie Monster” impressions. Then the chorus; soaring, poignant, the synths take to the fore as Till sings the opening line of this review in a deadpan baritone.
Also, extra points for the video, which see the band as the (six) Dwarves slaving for a tyrannical Snow White. It’s hilarious, defusing a band which could easily be mistaken as being po-faced. As far as I can, though gather, most of their songs are sung with tongue firmly in cheek. However, without english translations, and only my rusty German to rely on, I can't be sure. (that's why I've rated the lyrics "Not Applicable".)
In closing, a great song from an amazing band, more will follow soon, I promise.
Advantages: Excellent and enduring song all round Disadvantages: German lyrics may be a turn off for a few, but just think of them as another instrument!
...finishes.
All in all Sonne is the track people will know if they have heard of Rammstein, it shot to the top of most rock charts upon its release.
The video for this Song is equally as memorable. It features the band members as the Seven Dwarfs working down a mine, digging and breaking rocks, when a dominatrix style Snow White enters the mine and attempts to seduce them, I wont spoil the ending, watch it yourself.
Excellent song, Excellent video, ...

Advantages: Great Song/video /worth the money Disadvantages: are ye kiddin´?
Huh, no opinions ´bout Rammstein yet? Hm , that´ll change.
Shortly before the 2001-tour of Rammstein, they released the video and the
maxi-cd "Sonne" (album will follow in a few weeks).
Who ever loved Rammstein will love this new song "Sonne".
It´s typical Rammstein:
German -half melancolic - half brutal german poetry upon
hard-core/crossover-metal with driving beats and and irresistable
atmo of rot and death/love(techno influenced, though..ye ... ...but - we´ve 2001.....so
DONT BUY THIS CD!!! HA HA HA.....;)
The rest of the cd is mere fill-stuff, but ok also (some Clawfinger-remixes, and a song called "Adios").
And how does the cd sound? Hm..i liked the "herzeleid" album better!
The new sound is somewhat more brutal and the guitars more fuzzed and
the instruments worse distinguishable from each other than before but.......
turn on loud and thats the way it works! ...

Advantages: its addictive Disadvantages: the odd weak song
along. It suddenly breaks into guitars and drums playing with the strings in a kind of Metallica - S&M style. As the song continues, it becomes tougher and tougher, building up to it's explosive chorus, but necer losing it's slower beat.
'Links 234' (Left 234) is a quick flashback to older Rammstein, with the pounding guitars and the 'crunchy' feel that was so evident on Sehnsucht. While it may be a little out of place between the similar sounding 'Mein Herz Brennt' and 'Sonne', it's a welcome reminder, and as with everything Rammstein tries, it seems to work.
The Godlike 'Sonne' (Sun) proves that no other band in the world can pull off what these six guys can. 'Sonne' has the hardest guitars of the whole album, and Till's voice is savage, until the chorus breaks through and the new, polished feel of Rammstein's music shows itself again ...

Advantages: Classic Rammstein, Heavy, Catchy, Unique Disadvantages: Some questionable tracks...
Rammstein are certainly a mighty band in their genre. That is probably because they are in a genre of their own. There seems to be a clique attached to being a Rammstein fan but they seemed to try and break that with some of the tracks on this CD.
The opening song, and title track, is fantastic and brought back the good memories of the powerful 'Sonne' from the album "Mutter", which is probably still their best album to date. The power continues and that wonderful Rammstein style continues until we get to 'Amerika'. This is the track that started to bother me and it continues to do so the more I listen to it. Politically influenced music has always bothered me as it has an agenda which isnt primarily to entertain and please the fans who support the band, who listen to the band for its music not it social, economic or political policy ...
Advantages: Some great effects Disadvantages: That's not the Rammstein I'm used to hear
As you know, Rammstein has released Volkerball, a live audio CD. With Mutter, Reise, Reise and Rosenrot, I was really in paradise. I remember when I discovered Sonne, Ich Will and Mutter on MTV... But like every artist or band, Rammstein released his first album in 1995, called Herzeleid.
My purpose is to write a review about the CD, not to write the story of the band.
Like I said, Herzeleid was released in 1995, long after the formation of the band. I was 12 years old, I disliked hard rock/metal and I was very hostile toward German bands. Fortunately, I changed since that time. I discovered Rammstein when I entered at university, watching MTV (Superock) and a French channel, MCM with the show Ultra Metal. It was in 2001.
Sonne was so good that I was deceived not to hear the song again on music channels. Ich Will, Mutter ...
