Advantages: infectious, upbeat, fun Disadvantages: there'll be no slitting your wrists to this one...
...-frills romp of a record, not designed to be deep or particularly meaningful.
Lavigne's legion of fans will doubtless treat The Best Damn Thing like an early Christmas present, and so they should. For all its lyrical misgivings (largely when Avril tries to go it alone), TBTD is an exuberantly fun album, one that packs more than a fair punch and puts a delightfully perky twist on the direction of former releases Let Go and Under My Skin.
Though it's hard to see The Best Damn Thing furthering Lavigne's aims of ultimately becoming a serious singer-songwriter, for now it's simply a case - as her currently dyed hair suggests - of blondes having just that bit more fun.

Advantages: Gwen's voice, funky 80's vibe Disadvantages: too much hip hop
...Just when you thought our favourite rock-chick could go all Hollywood, Gwen Stefani pulls out of the bag a fantastic new sound which will bring along a fresh legion of fans.
Having been a fan of No Doubt for many years, I was extremely excited to hear that lead singer Gwen, was to release her own side project. It was only a matter of time I suppose.
Not sure what to expect, I presumed I would hear some 80's infected pop. This, overall, is not the case.
Opening the album with the current hit single, "What You Waiting For", it is by far the strongest song on the record. It is very, very, very different and original...oh, and damn good too! But, if you thought the song is slightly, oh I don't know, "odd", then have no fear! It gets a hell of a lot stranger after that!
The second track, "Rich Girl", is a sample/cover of "If I was a Rich...

Advantages: Origanallity and a big step forward. Disadvantages: None
...'t be trusted. Many fans got tired of the bullshit and started listening to gangster rap, others went back to the 70's. One day on June 11th in '91 some unlikely hero's emerged. These hero's went by the name of "Skid Row" & the super power they used to save a legion of rock fans was a new album called "Slave To The Grind", It was a breath fresh air for many of us who were holding our breath for way to long. "Monkey Business" kicks the album off. It starts off slow and bluesy but a few seconds into the number BAM!, There's that lethal dose of metal every true metal fan has been craving. Next comes the title track, it keeps the power going where the first song left off. What I find cool about it is there is only about a half a second break in between the first two songs opposed to the two seconds you usually get on most albums so you don't get any time...
