Advantages: Makes you remember all the good times! Great songs! Disadvantages: Surely there must be more songs they can add!
...I've been going through a little revival session this year and I was absolutely delighted when I purchased this album. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and I absolutely loved it, hence my purchase. I loved singing along to all the tunes on Funk SoulClassics and I have been inspired to hold my own 80s party!! If you want to go back, back into time then this is the album for you!!
The tracks are of a great variety and the play list is as follows.
1. I Found Lovin' - Fatback Band
2. Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now - McFadden & Whitehead
3. I Can Make You Feel Good - Shalamar
4. Last Night A DJ Saved My Life - Indeep
5. You're The One For Me - D-Train
6. Somebody Else's Guy -, Jocelyn Brown
7. Young Hearts Run Free -, Candi Staton
8. Love Come Down -, Evelyn 'Champagne' King
9. It's A Love Thing - Whispers
10. You To Me Are Everything - Real...

Advantages: Great classic tracks, Great for either man or woman Disadvantages: N/A
...This album (brothers in blues & Sisters in soul) is an album for all. Most of the tracks are relatively easy listening and very enjoyable if you are just sitting at home. or even an album to do some cleaning to or cooker. One to get you motivated and in a happy mood. It is just a one CD box with 18 tracks on it which is quite good.
Track 1: (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay:
Performed by Percy sledge in 1980. This is a great classic song. The guitar at the start is soft and smooth. Also the lyrics are like a story and the guitar which copies his voice is very good. I'm not a fan of the guys voice but it kind of works with the song. 7/10
Track 2:B-A-B-Y:
Performed by Carla Thomas in 1979. What can i say this is really a womans song but is still very good and a song i have heard many a time. Carla Thomas has a very high yet smooth voice...

...Subtitled “funk classics from sassy soul sisters” this album’s sentiment may have it’s heart in the right place, but it fails to describe the full picture here. These women are sexually, emotionally and vocally aggressive, leaving their men in no doubt as to who wears the trousers in their respective relationships. Each track here oozes raw sexuality, whether the role of the singer is that of a bored housewife (“Crumbs Off the Table”) or as sexual predator (“Your Thing Ain’t No Good Without My Thing”). The titles alone are sheer class.
Culled from the dusty vaults of Warner Bros’ legendary, bottomless soul archives this is an album of twelve virtually unknown tracks from between 1968 and 1974 performed by fourteen virtually unknown artists (honourable exception: Gladys...

Advantages: All the best R'n'B anthems from '04 & '05 Disadvantages: A little dated now
...This is an excellent round up of all the R'n'B smashes of 2004 and 2005 with a few nostalgic classics thrown in for good measure. It covers the slow jams, the dancefloor joints and everything in between from artists as diverse as Wayne Wonder, Lucy Pearl, Kelis and Usher.
CD2 also takes us back with classic gems from the likes of D'Angelo (whose 'Brown Sugar' pretty much defined and kick started the neo soul scene), Janet Jackson (with her undeniable classic 'That's The Way Love Goes') and Blackstreet (with club hit 'No Diggity' featuring Dr Dre)
This album is the perfect party album and although it avoids raritites, its sound understanding of R'n'B past and present make it a must have for any music lover....

Advantages: 154 minutes of pure class music Disadvantages: NONE, none none none none none
...What a cool cd. There isn’t much traditional jazz- as the CD explains – it’s a compilation of what jazz created – acid jazz, breakbeat, hip-hop and soul. All the songs on the 2 CDs (which both last 77mins – there is good value for money) are classics – some which you will instantly recognise , and some which you will recognise covers of.
There are all sorts of artists on the double cd – you have modern artists like Jamiroquai and Brand New Heavies, and some really cool old artists – Bill Wyman’s there – singing “Just the Two of Us” (gorgeous), and Herbie Hancock with Chameleon.
There are also 2 themes – Bob James - Angela (from Taxi) and James Taylor Quartet – theme from Starsky & Hutch (a damn cool theme tune).
The blurb says “it’s jazz, soul, funk and hip-hop rolled into one. What you have here is a collection of its finest...

Advantages: True Classics Disadvantages: Doesn't cater for the hard house or acid house fans
...This is a remarkable CD, just like the 1st Cream Classics CD. All the track hear are great with some really standing out like Space Cowboys by Jamiroquai which really shows that they have put the 'real' funk in this CD which leans towards the funky side. Also Go by Moby is a great tune. There are some really classics to be sighted in this CD. It trully defines itself and the mixing is excellent in order to create a smoothing effect throughout the 3 discs. This CD shows what has been an inspiration to the house music that we have now and does bring back a lot of fond memories. Those people wh do love their history of house music, it is a must to get this CD, and having the music pumping out of the stereo as it used to in the 90s....
