Ive liked The Jam from a very young age and this box set sums up exactly why they were such an amazing band. When the punk revelation happened, a group of people still wanted to rebel against society but in a slightly different way. Mods! The Jam took thier opportunity along with other famous bands such as The Who, The Kinks and the sound of Motown. They were well know for wearing suits and having scooters...by scooters i mean proper scooters not these crap moped things nowadays i mean VESPA's and Lambretta's.
I feel their music sums up what i imagine it to have been like at the time...the conflict between authority figures and society yet still having relationship probelms and singing about being heart broken.
With such a wide variety of songs, you cant go wrong...from the well known songs such as Going Underground and Down In The Tubestation to less well known songs like Fever and But Im Different. All the songs are fantastically performed by lead singer..Paul Weller, Bruce Foxton playing bass and Rick Buckler on the drums.
Now. Aswell as two fantastic CD's this also comes with a DVD that lets you see the jam in action for 11 whole tracks....including In The City, News Of The World, Start! and Absoloute Beginners...marvellous! As well as two CD's with 49 jam songs and the DVD with 11 tracks on you also get a little booklet that contains some information about how they started, influences and what they are doing now. The booklet also contains images of the band aswell as track listings.
An extremley good buy if your a jam fan or even if you dont know much about them and would like an insight into thier music.
