This is a band who deserve to hit the big time. Hailing from Canada, Bedouin are a band that met at Queen's University in Kingston Ontario and who, since graduating 2 years ago, have gathered a large following in their native country.
This fanbase is entirely deserved - Sounding a Mosaic is a fantastic album bringing together reggea and rock effortlessly. While the concept of fusing these two genres is nothing new in itself, the band have managed to do it incredibly well. The first track When the Night Feels My Song instantly stands out as a catchy, poppy hit that really doesnt tire on repeat listenings. The rest of the album continues in the same vein with a well balanced mix of feel good and chilled music, making Sounding a Mosaic one of the best Summer albums of recent years.
The band have definately grown since their first LP Root Fire, and with a few festival performances under their belt (cracking live band too!) are sure to continue their current run of success.
Advantages: This is a great album, very chilled and funky Disadvantages: Having to wait for the next album...
After hearing a bit of B.S.C on Radio 1 I was interested straight away. They had a fresh sound that I found very engaging and chilled out. Lets not make a mistake in the description of Chilled out - this is not a post club CD. This CD is the kind of tunes you want playing at a BBQ in the Summer, a beach party with a few beers and roaring bonfire etc... Lets position this I don't like Bob Marley that much... This is not real Reggae music it just grabs ...
