Advantages: up-cheering, famous songs Disadvantages: only 13 songs on the CD
...As you can see from my opening-sentence, I loved the music of "My Best Friend's Wedding". The songs fit of course to the story and are therefore only happy-romantic lovesongs. I especially worship "I say A Little Prayer", sung by Diana King and for the film also sung by a rough, wonderful soul voice, whose name doesn't appear.
The CD also includes the Film-Suite and famous titles like "What The World Needs Now..." (Jackie Deshannon). So if there's ...

...song. Sleepless in Seattle: Hits and Misses
1. As Time Goes By (Jimmy Durante): Miss. Maybe I'm too young to remember the guy with the big nose and the gravelly voice, but this rendition of Herman Hupfeld's song simply irritates me.
2. A Kiss To Build a Dream On (Louis Armstrong): Hit. Satchmo, on the other hand, is a legend in American jazz -- hell, American music. His voice was gruff, yes, but he sang with enthusiasm...and man! Could he play ... ...Hit. I've heard this song covered by two great singers -- Frank Sinatra and Nat Cole. Sinatra was good, and backed by the Tommy Dorsey orchestra he was fantastic. But this is my favorite version, perhaps because it's the complete song, but mainly because Nat's version is more moving.
4. Making Whoopee (Dr. John, featuring Rickie Lee Jones): Miss. I'm sorry, but I can't stand this version. It's the only time I've heard Dr. John, but I didn't like ...
Advantages: Brings back the memories of the show, great if you havn't Disadvantages: n/a
Barry Manilow's Copacabana was welcomed with great enthusiasm when it hit the West End as a Musical. I was lucky enough to see this musical and it has gone down with me as one of the best I have ever seen, and I have seen a few.
You may wonder how a song like Copacabana could be made into a musical, but with over 2 and a half hours of great music, Copacabana was just the tip of the Iceberg. The music in this show was full of energy, humour, some ... ...lyrics .
The Copacabana Story
Stephen (Gary Wilmot) is writing a song, it is about a showgirl based in the Copa, a nightclub from 45 years ago just after World War II, as he decides on her name "Lola" we are taken back to the year 1947 where a girl named "Lola" from Oklahoma arrives by train at Grand Central Station. Standing with her suitcases, many other girls start to join her from other trains ...
