Advantages: Great tracks, great variety
Disadvantages: Probably a song on there that you don't like too much

This is a pretty amazing soundtrack - I remember that when I first got it, I listened to it pretty much non-stop - at home, with the family in the car - it was our holiday CD. Definitely don't overlook it. Self's 'Stay Home' is pretty upbeat and rocky, as it totally reminds me of the montage part of the film where its used. Smash Mouth's rendition of 'I'm A Believer' does leave a little to be desired - I much prefer The Monkee's version - but Smash ...
...Eddie Murphy's reprise of said song is musch improved - the fast-talking, mad medly completely characterises the ogre's nutty donkey companion. My only gripe about that particular track is that, as its taken directly from the movie, it is short - only 1.12 minutes long. 'Like Wow' is very much a pop song - it's cheery and upbeat - with a Britney Spears feel to it. Dana Glover's ballad 'It Is You (I Have Loved)' works brilliantly with the movie - ...

Roses Are Red....

Advantages: Great Mix, new sounds
Disadvantages: none, really.

Violets are blue, I wanted a better title but this one will do.... For those of you who don't know me, I am a bit of a soundtrack addict. Review of American Beauty - Original Soundtrack

Soundtrack fit for a Prince

Advantages: Good recording quality, and professional performances all round.
Disadvantages: Pointless additional commerical tracks which bring the overall album quality down.

The score for The Prince of Egypt is, for me, the best for any animated film since The Lion King. Dreamworks' first major animation outshone anything produced by Disney at the same time, and the CD goes some way to showing why that was. The orchestral cues are all written by Hans Zimmer and are of his usual excellent standard. The pieces written for the sequences where Moses meets God in the burning bush and for the crossing of the Red Sea are awe-inpsiring ...
...emotion is conveyed in such tracks as 'Goodbye Brother' where the essentially wordless vocals are provided by Ofra Haza. But the big treat of the score is the sextet of songs written by Stephhen Schwartz. One great soundtrack for a fairly okay movie
