Advantages: Songs performed by people from Ally McBeal cast Disadvantages: Songs performed by Vonda Shepherd
...or my continuing addiction with Ally McBeal and the fact that it's Christmas with them at the moment...
Inspired by some of the songs that were performed in the third season of Ally, I decided to buy their Christmas CD "A very Ally Christmas". I got it from play.com for 5.99 with free delivery. That's the best offer I could find on the internet, but I'm happy to get advice where to look next time... ;-)
The CD was just delivered today and has since ... ...roommate Renee in the series Ally McBeal. Those of you, who have seen a few episodes will know that she isn't very reluctant to perform the one or other song on stage. So therefore my expectations were fairly high, and I'm sorry to say that they weren't quite met. Her voice sounds rather squeaky and this song surely doesn't show her full potential.
*I SAW MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS*
Oh such a good song. Elaine / Jane Krakowski at her best - telling ...
If you've seen the movie, and love the music in it, pick up this single disc reissue of the original classic 2-LP album. I have the original record album and played it quite frequently. It's good to hnag on to, but in the past year I bought this single disc and don't have to worry about this getting worn out.
All the original songs from the film are here. The songs are done in the style a typical '50s rock'n'roll song or ballad. The title track ...
Advantages: Some tracks (Nat "King" Cole, Louis Armstrong) are priceless Disadvantages: Jimmy Durante? Celine Dion? Blecch!
...song. Sleepless in Seattle: Hits and Misses
1. As Time Goes By (Jimmy Durante): Miss. Maybe I'm too young to remember the guy with the big nose and the gravelly voice, but this rendition of Herman Hupfeld's song simply irritates me.
2. A Kiss To Build a Dream On (Louis Armstrong): Hit. Satchmo, on the other hand, is a legend in American jazz -- hell, American music. His voice was gruff, yes, but he sang with enthusiasm...and man! Could he play ... ...Hit. I've heard this song covered by two great singers -- Frank Sinatra and Nat Cole. Sinatra was good, and backed by the Tommy Dorsey orchestra he was fantastic. But this is my favorite version, perhaps because it's the complete song, but mainly because Nat's version is more moving.
4. Making Whoopee (Dr. John, featuring Rickie Lee Jones): Miss. I'm sorry, but I can't stand this version. It's the only time I've heard Dr. John, but I didn't like ...
Advantages: It's a Classic Disadvantages: Absolutely None
...a Western score (after all Dances With Wolves is not your everyday Western), as well as deciding to leave the period Native American music to other hands. Instead Barry took John Dunbar as a starting point, preferring to focus on his story; his journey to the American frontier, his encounters and observations with the Sioux, and his assessment of these people. The main John Dunbar Theme is one of the most recognizable themes ever to rise from the ... ...well avoided. In many ways Dances With Wolves is the archetypal epic Barry score: it has the lush strings alternating with simple brass interjections, it features the usual repetitons of each phrase on almost every measure, and the strong melodic language is maintained throughout the entirety of the score. As a whole the score is fairly optimistic though elegiac, but there are also a few instances when the music features some very dark and melancholy ...
Advantages: good for fans of the show Disadvantages: might not sound as good to someone who isn't a egular ally viewer
For all "die-hard" ally fans this is an absolute must. Being able to listen to memories wherever you are is the best. Vincent and Baby, don't you break my heart slow have to be the best songs on the album, although they all grow on you as soon as you hear them. It's one of those albums that you look at the track list and think, oh yeah, i know say 6 or 7 of them but you listen to them and the albums finished before you know it and the songs (and ...
