The biggest attraction when I found this CD was that it stars Hugh Jackman as Curly. I'd never heard him sing before and was intrigued to find out what kind of voice Wolverine has. I was astounded as the first notes of 'Oh What A Beautiful Morning' rang out and continued to be impressed throughout.
Maureen Lipman's performance as Aunt Eller is filled with dry humour and whilst Josefina Gabrielle's singing as Laurey isn't quite what you'd expect ... ...DVD of this show, you'll see that they cast her more for her talents as a dancer than as a singer.
Peter Polycarpou plays a great Ali Hakim, but sadly that character doesn't have the greatest songs and so his performance is somewhat lost on the soundtrack.
The other standout performance of this CD is Shuler Hensley, who plays Jud. Hensley has a beautiful deep voice and sings the character's main song ('Lonely Room') with incredible emotion.

...is the fifth track here. Oliver Twist is taken from the workhouse to work at the funeral parlour owned by Mr and Mrs Sowerberry. The song is performed by Mr Bumble (Julius D’Silva), Mr Sowerberry (Julian Bleach) and Mrs Sowerberry (Louise Gold). Julian Bleach has the most amazing acting voice and was recently Davros in last year’s finale of Doctor Who. He makes a scary Mr Sowerberry and his singing is great too; he delivers the clever lines with ... ...them on it.
The Oliver on the CD is Laurence Jeffcoate, but we saw Gwion Wyn Jones and I prefer his voice with its lovely Welsh lilt. Laurence does a good job and sounds suitably angelic, especially in Where Is Love? But I do feel Gwion is better.
Overall though, the 2009 London cast are excellent and I love this CD and would definitely recommend it. If you’ve seen the show yourself, it will bring back lots of wonderful memories. If you haven’t ...

i think the music from this fil is very good, i seen this show performed in school last year and i would recomend it for any one, it was amazing. th3 music from this very good and some i may say as a singer would be very hard and some people i seen singing were as young as twelve years old and up to at least sixteen. It was a great expeirance snd if you ever have the chance to see the show you should deffinetly take the chance you will be very impressed ...

When I was a bit younger, I used to watch Australian kids show Hi 5 on Milkshake every morning religiously before school. It is a programme aimed at pre-school and primary school children, teaching them various things through the methods of song and dance.
