Fun this ain't

...is good pastiche, and 'A Saint She Ain't' certainly ain't good pastiche. Written in a style reminiscent of film musicals of the 1940s and accompanied by piano (possibly two pianos, judging from the sound of the overture), the show features thirteen different songs which echo the list songs, novelty numbers and lovestruck duets remembered fondly from so many Hollywood singalongs. Advantages: Great CD from a great musical
Disadvantages: Only buy if you have seen the musical

Mamma Mia is a musical based on the songs by Abba. This is a review of the CD which has the original cast recordings from the musical. Before I start, I would like to say only get this CD if you have seen the musical. If you like Abba music then get an Abba CD. Listening to this CD before watching the musical would spoil it. The worst film I have seen in many years

Advantages: Good cast whose lines will have you rolling in the aisles
Disadvantages: Good cast wasted on a completely cack film. Plotless, one-dimensional and unfathomable
