If you've seen the movie, and love the music in it, pick up this single disc reissue of the original classic 2-LP album. I have the original record album and played it quite frequently. It's good to hnag on to, but in the past year I bought this single disc and don't have to worry about this getting worn out.

Doctor Dolittle is a World premiere London Cast recording of songs from the musical. If you have seen the film or the musical you will know that the story is about a man that can communicate with animals. At no point is the play supposed to be serious, it is purely fantastical, funny and very entertaining. I haven't seen the musical myself but the film was a favorite for my childhood years.
This CD has all the songs from Doctor Dolittle, my favorites ... ...who is astonished when the Doctor presents him with a 'push me pull you', an animal with two heads at opposite ends of a body which pull in opposite ends. It is a lovely musical/film and this CD does not disappoint anyone who is a fan of musical classics.
It also doesn't disappoint anyone who likes a bit of cheese; but in this 21st century society its important everyone has a bit of cheese in their lives every now and again, so we don't take life ...

Mary Poppins is probably one of the most familiar of all British fictional characters, largely thanks to the Disney film, so the stage musical was probably inevitable, yet also a big risk. Would they be able to re-create the practically perfect nanny on stage with any success, given that almost everyone in the theatre would be expecting certain things? Judging by the cast album, they've done a good job. The music is a mix of the familiar and the ... ...but with great tunes!
Mary Poppins, as played by Laura Michelle Kelly, is introduced on the track 'Practically Perfect', one of the completely new numbers. That said, if I hadn't checked with the list of who wrote what, I would probably have been convinced that the song was in the film. ...while to catch on to High School Musical. In fact, I ended up seeing High School Musical 3 before I saw the first two! Though I have now caught myself up and along with that I am becoming more familiar with the songs. In an attempt to fully connect with the music, I found myself borrowing the CDs from a friend. One of which was of course the High School Musical 2 CD soundtrack. The album can be recognized by its aqua blue cover. On the front, 'High ... ...you are a fan of High School Musical, but I will admit that it is not one I would rush out and buy myself. It is a good CD to listen to if you were given it as a gift or, in my case, if you borrow it from a friend. Though I feel you should only spend money on it if you know you are going to like it and you do like High School Musical!
