Advantages: Great music from the movie, includes a bonus DVD Disadvantages: Tracks in bizzare order.
...review includes minor spoilers for Star Wars Revenge of the Sith motion picture.***
Star Wars has been a very successful movie. Good story, great characters but also a memorable soundtrack. All six of the symphonic scores are composed by John Williams and include many reoccurring themes that link them all together. Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the final episode of the saga and the end of the musical journey for the soundtrack. This ... ...trilogies.
Disk One
Star Wars Revenge of the Sith is the episode in the saga dealing with Anakin's fall to the dark side. The soundtrack reflects this with overall darker themes.
As with other soundtracks not all of the music in the movie is released and the order of the tracks is not the same as where the cues are in the movie. I prefer to re-order the tracks as then the music is chronologically correct with the movie's plot, for example, if ...
Advantages: A historical score on all levels; over 100 minutes of utter splendour Disadvantages: Sound not as full due to age; the Empire is lacking strong accompaniment
...YOUR ENLIGHTENMENT, SIR
When Star Wars premiered in 1977, it was an instant success nobody was expecting. During the 1960's and 70's the movies pretty much concentrated on the real world with the sugar coating of the 1950's being replaced by the grittiness and harder realities of life. But then Star Wars showed up and heralded the great revival of the action fantasy and sci-fi genres, something that was virtually more close to a joke at the time. ... ...could have blasted the entire Star Wars saga down before it even got started. Imagine an electronic score in place of the fully symphonic one and all the excitement would have been watered down to perpetual cheese.
This type of score had not really been written in a long time and therefore Williams decided to look inspiration from farther down the road than even the 1930's. His basic approach was by using Richard Wagner's device known as a leitmotif, ...
Advantages: A solid Star Wars score with an absolutely fantastic new theme Disadvantages: Muddy recording quality and a little less exciting action for a Star Wars score
Now that the Star Wars prequel saga has reached its Third and final episode I think its time I handled the remaining Episodes in my soundtrack evaluations, handling Episode II first. With The Phantom Menace proving to be a big disappointment for audiences due to its weak story, incredibly irritating and silly characters, and the over-reliance on CGI, there was much less expectation and trepidation for Attack of the Clones. With Anakin Skywalker now ... ...the style of his earlier Star Wars scores in terms of thematic development and stylistic similarities. With the creation of two new major themes (Duel of the Fates and Anakin's Theme) as well as a number of smaller themes and motifs along with the inclusion of older themes like the Force Theme and Imperial March (in a more subdued and foreboding form) The Phantom Menace proffered a rich tapestry of thematic material that maintained the connections ...
Advantages: A wonderful album featuring many of Michael Jackson's greatest hits and a few new surprises. Disadvantages: Despite being a two disc CD the second disc only has three tracks ...
...a copy of Michael Jackson’s This Is It (having been to the cinema the night before to see the concert movie that the album itself is based on). For the last couple of hours I have been listening to the album whilst writing this review.
I have never written a review of a music album before and, to be honest, was not entirely sure where to start !!! Many of you will be familiar with the music reviews written by XICripZ … now there’s a dude who (in ... ...album. I could never describe this album as well as I know he could because I simply don’t have his ear for music. I do, however, have a few ideas and my hope is that this review will …
1) Reveal some of my own thoughts about Michael Jackson
2) Shed a little light on to the story behind the creation of the album itself
3) Provide information about the tracks included on this album
4) Allow me to share my initial feelings having just listened ...
Advantages: Good Music, Good number of tracks. Disadvantages: The "first song" is just a narrative, but you can easily skip it.
I got this soundtrack because the movie was so... in lack of other words: delicious. This CD was the best soundtrack all summer long. I love the wide gap of music ranging from the Smiths to Hall and Oats to Feist to Regina Spector. Not to mention Simon and Garfunkel. This large group of music only increases the quality. This was a GREAT soundtrack in my opinion. There are only a few problems as far as I can see. The first is the fact that the first ... ...in the beginning of the movie. This, however, can easily be skipped or unchecked in your iTunes. The second problem is the mood swings. It goes from happy to sad. These swings aren't too major, but are notable. Overall, it was a good buy. I'd also like to add that 16 songs is a good size for any CD, especially a Soundtrack. This soundtrack was more than worth the money that I payed for it. ...
