Beautiful and melancholy. Advantages: beautiful piano, wonderful soundtrack to the movie Disadvantages: none for me! Amélie is one of the most beautiful and uplifting films of recent times, and it soundtrack reflects that perfectly. This album has been on my favourites playlist since the second I heard it; certain tracks, such as Comptine d'un autre été - L'après-midi and of course the main theme, La valse d'Amélie (particularly the piano version) make my breath catch in my throat. Though it is the melancholy piano tracks that stick out for me, there's an eclectic ... ...accordion, which makes some tracks curiously joyous and makes the whole album very distinctly French - as it should be. If you love Amélie, you could not fail to love this album, as it immediately summons up the spirit of the film. But even if you are unfamiliar with it, it might be worth a look; the piano tracks alone might persuade you to watch it, and if you love French music it is sure to be a pleasure. ... Advantages: Good solid Tangerine Dream music Disadvantages: Quite quite their best * Exit – The entrance * It was recorded in the summer of 1981 and released in September of the same year, containing 6 tracks using the very latest electronic equipment at the time. There were no acoustic instruments used at all. They didn’t use engineers either. They just had everything around them, the same way as on-stage during concerts. Tiersen, a man of many talents. Advantages: perfect soundtrack for the film Disadvantages: often repetitive ...tracks have been written for Amelie but they fit in well such as "Pas si Simple", taken from the album "Rue des Cascades", which shows Tiersens experimentation with instruments by using a type writer to introduce the tune. Tracks 7 and 14 are old traditional songs, one of which ("Guilty") being in English. These fit in well with the café scenes of the film but interrupt Tiersens music. Track 2 ("Les Jours tristes") is not performed by Tiersen but ... ...Tiersen and Neil Hannon (of Divine Comedy) and has been released as a B side by The Divine Comedy. This soundtrack enhances the film greatly giving a sense of mood and timelessness, with tracks giving an impression of melancholy of carelessness. It is an album which needs to be listened to in its entirety. There is a strong French feel throughout and a sense of everyday life turning over. High Fives all round! Advantages: good mix, energetic, fun Disadvantages: / When I was a bit younger, I used to watch Australian kids show Hi 5 on Milkshake every morning religiously before school. It is a programme aimed at pre-school and primary school children, teaching them various things through the methods of song and dance. Naturally, there are five presenters, all of which are Australian. Okay so the education side is a bit young fo rme, but I do find the music very entertaining on the show! Now I do not have the ... ...I did buy one of their several albums. This one was Hi 5 Hits. This album is very attractive, a very colourful cover with little cartoon images of the band: Nathan Foley, Charley Delaney, Tim Harding, Kellie Crawford (then Hoggart), and Kathleen de Leon. It is very bright and draws your attention in for sure! Looking on the back I noticed there were a total of twenty one songs. I will let you discover the wonders of them all yourself, but to give ... How High would this reach? Advantages: good songs, good price Disadvantages: generally appeals only to HSM fans ...while to catch on to High School Musical. In fact, I ended up seeing High School Musical 3 before I saw the first two! Though I have now caught myself up and along with that I am becoming more familiar with the songs. In an attempt to fully connect with the music, I found myself borrowing the CDs from a friend. One of which was of course the High School Musical 2 CD soundtrack. The album can be recognized by its aqua blue cover. On the front, 'High ... ...you are a fan of High School Musical, but I will admit that it is not one I would rush out and buy myself. It is a good CD to listen to if you were given it as a gift or, in my case, if you borrow it from a friend. Though I feel you should only spend money on it if you know you are going to like it and you do like High School Musical!
