Unless you have absolutely NO tolerance for juvenile and blatantly offensive humor, you will not like Comedy Central's "South Park" - Matt Parker and Trey Stone's vulgar brainchild that was borne into the world via a Christmas greeting captured on videotape several years ago.

After its initial success, Trey and Matt decided that they would follow the lead of such people as Mike Judge - they created a full-length movie featuring all of the major South Park characters and unleashed it upon the hapless world.

The movie itself is even more horribly explicit than the half-hour series, if that's believable. "The F word" and other vulgarities are NOT censored in the film, which only adds to its charm. South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut is a parody of every musical we've ever heard. Everybody from Satan himself and Sadaam Hussein down to Kyle's wickedly uncool mother perform various musicals within the context of the film. Basically, Sadaam and Lucifer are trying to take over Earth while residents of South Park, Colorado (a fictionalized version of the American town) are blaming Canada for all of the world's problems. Apparently it's Canada's fault that the South Park kids are so vulgar: Popular Canadian duo Terrence and Philip have released a film that is nothing short of disgusting!
The South Park parents do the only logical thing: Attempt to murder Terrence and Philip! The entire country is in on it, going so far as to start a full-scale war with our Northern neighbors. Despite this horrid play on politics, I thought it was the funniest damned animated movie ever made. It beat out "Beavis and Butthead Do America," and "The Lion King" for my favorite of all time!

However, this is not a review about the movie itself. The above was simply a small amount of context info to help the readers understand what the hell I'm talking about where the soundtrack is concerned. Buckle your seat belts and close your eyes, because I'm about to get very, very indecent!

The soundtrack was released by Wea/Atlantic Recordings on June 22, 1999 and consists of one compact disc inside of a standard jewel case with minimal liner notes (which, quite frankly, are boring and meant to be skipped - the point of this recording is the audio content, not the "bells and whistles" of liner inserts so far as I am concerned).

I realize that it will appear that I do not like very many tracks from this album. That's because some of them do, indeed, suck. However, the originality and appeal of the rest of these songs makes it more than worth owning and listening to about three times a month - or more often if there are people around me that need to be annoyed.

**TRACK LISTING**

01. Mountain Town - The South Park kids are singing in a ballad format about their "white trash podunk mountain town" - it is slightly irreverent and funny as hell. I usually skip this track though, as it is too slow and drawn-out for my liking.

02. Uncle Fu**a - Canadian kings of flatulence Terrance and Phillip made a big-screen film. They fart all over each other, then sing such disgusting and offensive songs as this one. "Shut your effing face, uncle effer..." et cetera. It's actually a bit ingenious, with twisted lyrics such as "You don't eat or sleep or mow the lawn, you just eff your uncle all day long..." - very, very funny - and a great track to play at FULL volume on a high-end stereo system if you've got annoying neighbors that need to be sent a message.

03. It's Easy, MMMKay - The twisted South Park Elementary guidance counselor - Mr. Mackey - is at it again. In an effort to stop the kids from calling each other pig effers, he composes this swinging show tune that highlights "alternatives" to profanity. "With bi**h just drop the 'T,' because 'Bich' is Latin for 'generosity'...it's easy, mmmmkay..." This track is almost as annoying as the actual character in the thirty-minute episodes and movie, so I tend to skip this one as well.

04. Blame Canada - This is the track in which Kyle's Mom and other parents sing about how terrible Canadians are for negatively influencing their children. It's an upbeat, fast showtune that makes it all too easy to tap my foot and sing along with. Very tongue-in-cheek, with lots of interesting background music to keep things going. I definitely recommend this track to anybody with a twisted sense of humor. "Should we blame the government...or the images on t.v....no, blame Canada!"

05. Kyle's Mom's A B***h - This is my favorite track. Cartman's ever-famous song, often sung in various episodes of the television series, has been drawn out and added to. Here, Cartman adds children from other countries singing in their own languages (Chinese, et cetera) as well as a big musical-showtune finish. VERY entertaining - especially since one of my little brother's friends is named Kyle. (Yes, I am evil - that's why I play this track every time the annoying brat walks into my house!)

06. What Would Brian Boitano Do? - This song just plain sucks. The part of the film in which the children ask (by singing, of course) what U.S. figure skater Brian Boitano would do about their parents and other problems...well, it's just stupid. I don't like this track at all, so I skip it every single time it comes up.

07. Up There - A slow, melodic tune in which Satan ponders about life on Earth. This is kind of cute, in a strange way. Charming, too - I definitely suggest that you check this track out.

08. La Resistance (Medley) - The South Park kids have formed La Resistance with the help of a very strange little boy who, apparently, is very knowledgable about war and other hostile situations. "Though you die, La Resistance lives on..." This track is just plain cool.

09. Eyes Of A Child - Oh, yuck. A very slow, sad song about seeing the world through the eyes of the South Park kids. Boring, boring, BORING! I bought this soundtrack because I want to laugh at crude and disgusting humor, not because I give a damn about sappy ballads.

10. I Can Change - Here we go! This is a great track in which Sadaam Hussein swears to Satan (his lover - gross!) that he can change. "I can change, I can change, I know I've been a dirty little bastard..." If we were only rating laughter levels, this would get five stars: It's hilarious. Hussein goes on to explain that his parents were sometimes abusive, et cetera - which is why he's such a jerk! Hah!

11. I'm Super - at the USO-type program that was staged right before Terrence and Phillip were to be executed, Big Gay Al performed this song. Because, as we all know, "Everything is super when you're...gaaaaay!" Charming, appealing, and funny because some of the lyrics are just plain twisted. (Big Gay Al apparently does not have time to feel sorry for the wheelchair-bound fan in the crowd - as he's too busy having a 'super' time of things - hehe.)

12. Mountain Town (Reprise) - After Canada and South Park kiss and make up, the entire mountain town get together and sing the opening track. Everybody is happy, and things are peaceful once again. Yay!

13. Good Love - Soul singer Isaac Hayes plays Chef - the dirty-minded nymphomaniac who serves food to the South Park Elementary students. In this track, he is - as always - singing about sex. A smooth, "disco/funk" type of track that is very amusing - if not downright filthy.

And now, we launch into the "interpretations" - tracks that were re-mixed by famous recording artists and included in the soundtrack (but not the film).

14. Shut Yo Face (Uncle F**KA) - Trick Daddy, Featuring Trina & Tre - A rap/hip-hop interpretation of Terrence and Phillip's "Uncle F***a" - very cool indeed, if only because it's Trick Daddy's work.

15. Riches To Rags (MMMKay) - Nappy Roots - This track is sort of annoying, so I don't play it very often. However, it DOES, as with all the other tracks, fit in well with the context of the movie as well as with the rest of the soundtrack.

16. Kyle's Mom's A Big Fat B**ch - Joe C. featuring Kid Rock - Okay, Kid Rock has corrupted a pre-pubescent child in this one. This track would be absolutely perfect save for the fact that I don't believe pre-teens should be allowed to record such vulgar music. (Now, if they were older, it would be fine by me, but I for one am mildly disturbed by a high-pitched little voice singing about Kyle's Mom being a big fat b***h.)

17. What Would Brian Boitano Do? Pt. II - D.V.D.A - This version is MUCH cooler than the original because it is now a fast-paced punk track. Sweet!

18. I Swear It (I Can Change) - Violent Femmes - The Violent Femmes are generally cool musicians. This is no exception. They put their own trademark twist on the song, complete with their easily-recognizable vocal work.

19. Super - RuPaul - The King (Queen?) of drag sings Big Gay Al's song. PLEASE tell me you aren't surprised by this one.

20. O Canada - Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush featuring Terrance and Phillip - This is a nice finish to a great soundtrack - almost a respectful one, even. This is definitely worth listening to.
