This compilation album consists of music directly from and inspired by Spiderman the movie. Most of these songs are popular rock acts, and although I don't really remember hearing many of the songs in the film when it was released in 2002, it still is a clever collection because there is a vast range of artists from aero smith to Macy gray, but when you listen to it all the way through they all in some way remind you of Spiderman.

The first song on the album is the original theme from Spiderman, which although is a relatively old recording by today's standards it still sets the mood for the album, and if you have heard that main tune before, you will appreciate that it just HAS to be on the Spiderman sound track!
Chad Kroger sings 'hero' with Josey Scott on track two, this is a song that will I believe become one of those classics like 'born to be wild' and 'bat out of hell', because it is so memorable and epic.
The original version of sum 41's 'what we're all about' is number 3 and tracks 4 and 5 consist of two head bangingly great tracks: 'learn to crawl' by Black lab, and 'somebody else' by bleu. It is evident why the titles at least are related to Spiderman (learn to crawl!). There is an Alien ant farm song called 'bug bytes'; how appropriate and this is followed by two tracks which are my personal favorites, the rocking 'default' by blind, and beautifully controlled 'bother' by Corey Taylor. Just talking about this album makes me want to listen to it again, it really is good!
There are also songs by Greenwheel, the strokes, theory of a dead man, Pete yorn, Macy gray, injected, jerry Cantrell and two classical compositions by the legendary Danny Elfman! The last song on the album is a remake of track number 1 (theme from Spiderman), done by Aerosmith, which in my opinion really makes the album good enough to be called a Spiderman album.
Song List:
1.: Spider Man (theme) 2.: Hero - Kroeger, Chad & Josey Scott 3.: What We're All About (original version) - Sum 41 4.: Learn To Crawl - Black Lab 5.: Somebody Else - Bleu 6.: Bug Bytes - Alien Ant Farm 7.: Blind - Default 8.: Bother - Taylor, Corey 9.: Shelter - Greenwheel 10.: When It Started - Strokes 11.: Hate To Say I Told You So - Hives 12.: Invisible Man - Theory Of A Dead Man 13.: Undercover - Yorn, Pete 14.: My Nutmeg Phantasy (Morello mix) - Gray, Macy 15.: I IV V - Injected 16.: She Was My Girl - Cantrell, Jerry 17.: Main Titles - Elfman, Danny 18.: Farewell - Elfman, Danny 19.: Theme From Spiderman - Aerosmith
Advantages: Completing your Spider-Man collection. Disadvantages: The mixture of songs could leave you saying, 'what?'
Even though there is only one theme song within this album, the is quite up to the expectation I expected it to be. It also rewakens old songs such as the Chubby Checkers's Twist. It has songs that you can rock to and songs that will just give you goosebumps. My favourite song has to be Snow Patrol's Signal Fire because it just hits something in your heart that makes me weep. Even though the other songs are pretty much background music that I don't really like. But I find that most of the songs are just clashing with each other and I find myself pretty much not listening to most of the songs on them as much as the others. The only reason I got this was to complete my Spider-Man CD collection and is not worth getting. ...
Advantages: colourful case / 'vindicated' is a brilliant song Disadvantages: not as good as spiderman 1 album
This compilation album is a follow up to the successful and brilliant Spider-man album, released in 2002. In my opinion this second spidery rock album is no way near as good as the first. It is still listenable but only a few mentionable tracks stand out as been really good! The Spiderman 2 film (starring Tobey Maguire), was excellent and I found it a little disappointing that the films corresponding album didn't have enough epic tunes, maybe that's just my opinion.
HOWEVER, dashboards song vindicated is the first track of the album, and this is one of my all time favorite rock songs. I still love listening to it as it is so emotional and head banging! Anyone who has heard the song will know why I'm so enthusiastic about it, and that song is a good enough reason to by this album. There are a few other tracks which I really like ...

Album Notes
Original score composed by Danny Elfman. "Hero" (Chad Kroger/Josey Scott) was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. Admittedly, one of the main revelations gleaned from the film SPIDER-MAN is the fact that Willem Defoe always DID sort of look like the Green Goblin. Beyond this realization, and whatever additional pleasure may be inherent in the film itself, the attendant soundtrack album is a tour de force through the world of heavy rock/nu-metal/pick-a-name circa 2002. Chad Kroeger kicks things off with a power ballad remiscent of the Staind hit "It's Been Awhile," but from there on most of SPIDER-MAN is filled with raging guitars, pounding drums, and primal-scream-therapy vocals courtesy of Alien Ant Farm, Injected, and many others. The few divergences from the melee include the Stooges-after-rehab sounds of The Strokes and the Hives, the sultry neo-soul of Macy Gray, and a hard-hitting take on the original Spider-Man cartoon theme (the template for which opens the disc) by Aerosmith.
