If post rock, dark alternative or spacious quiet broken by ear-shattering noise are your thing then this is for you.
Slint are alternative rock legends nay, Gods.
Guitarist David Pajo alone is worth more than the albums weight in gold and the great things he went on to do in the underground rock scene with scenesters Papa-M, Aerial-M and Tortoise( and rather more forgettably in Billy Corgans super group Zwan) only serve to prove that this was evidence of arising greatness, albeit away from the abhorrent mainstream.
Fans of Godspeed You!Black Emperor, the other constellation acts and Mogwai should buy this straight away, although it is likely to already be in your collections, as it becomes rapidly clear as to where at least some of their haunting sounds were borrowed.
Clearly the overall style of the band will not appeal to everyone, particularly Pajo's use of extreme fuzz laden guitars appearing from subtle quiet and Brian McMahan's vocal style, but presumably if you are looking at this you will almost certainly already know what to expect.
