Johnny Got His Gun is originally an anti-war novel published in 1939 by Dalton Trumbo, an American novelist. The novel was based on a true event where a soldier lost all his senses and all of his limbs. The film was released in 1971 and was re-released in 2009 on DVD. The 2009 DVD also includes a documentary titled Dalton Trumbo: Rebel in Hollywood, the music video One by Metallica, cast interviews, the original trailer, a radio told version of the book from 1940 and behind the scenes commentary. The name Johnny got his Gun was an American propaganda call for rallying young men to subscribe to the military. Advantages: Spending time with family. Understanding what giving is all about.
Disadvantages: The real message of Christmas is being lost.
