Advantages: arguably the greatest album in the world Disadvantages: none at all
a higher power. As the closing song on a relatively well-known 'rock' band's record it is an astonishingly brave, direct and emotional thing to do. That it succeeds without sounding trite or embarrassing is due in no small part to the genuine sincerity and vulnerability shown by Hollis. There's a sense that the whole album has been in some way a journey, an attempt to find a higher spirit, a guiding force, or, if you prefer, God. The extremely long fade is a masterful stroke and almost makes the listener wonder if the song was ever there at all.
Spirit Of Eden takes the listener on an amazingly emotional journey.
It is quite possibly the greatest album I have ever heard. ...
The Corrs - Talk on Corners
The Corrs are a band who hail from Ireland. They are made up of four siblings, Jim and his three sisters, Andrea, Sharon and Caroline. I think they have a really unique sound with beautiful beautiful voices. I would describe their music and folk based with lots of meaningful lyrics. They also have quite an Irish based sound as well, on a lot of their songs there is a background Irish rythm which is what I think makes them quite a different type of mainstream band.
What I also love about them is that they all can actually play instruments and to me that is a sing of a true musician and band. They include a lot of different sounds in their songs and I really think this adds depth. For example, some of the instruments they play include the tin whistle, violin, drums, guitar and keyboard. I think it also helps ...

HISTORY
~~~~~~~~
Aren't there a lot of reviews on TalkTalk? That is either a very good sign or a very bad one. I'll leave you to judge.
I was impressed with them when they were 'got' by the BBC consumer programme 'Watchdog'. There was a long saga concerning them and the head of TalkTalk was rather impressive.
In early 2006 they began offering free broadband if you signed up to a telephone calls package. They were so inundated with people signing up that they couldn't meet the demand and got a reputation for poor service and appalling customer relations. The broadband service was patchy and lots of people never managed to get online. Hundreds contacted Watchdog, who took up the cause.
Watchdog got lots of information - including non-contact from TalkTalk when customers complained, billing continuing after ...
Album Notes
Talk Talk includes: Mark Hollis (vocals, guitar, piano, organ); Tim Friese-Greene (guitar, piano, harmonium, organ); Robbie McIntosh (12-string guitar, dobro); Mark Feltham (harmonica); Henry Lowthar (trumpet); Paul Webb (electric bass); Lee Harris (drums); Martin Ditcham (percussion). Additional personnel includes: Choir Of Chelmsford. As the album opens, you almost think that you have put on a Miles Davis album by mistake. The strains of trumpeter Henry Lowther are certainly convincing. Mark Hollis and his band moved on from the New Romantic tag and certainly produced a much more varied and ambitious album. 'The Rainbow' is a startling opener, and after Lowther's trumpet solo is a spooky harmonica solo from ex-Nine Below Zero ace, Mark Feltham. Other cameos convince the listener that Talk Talk have grown. The choice of musicians such as Nigel Kennedy, and the marvellous string bassist Danny Thompson, can do nothing but enhance their reputation. The City of Chelmsford choir are the icing on the cake.
Q (7/99, p.151) - Included in Q's Best Chill-Out Albums of All Time - "...introverted, career-knackered album....[Mark Hollis(lead singer)] suggested it's best to be listened to 'in a calm mood, with no distractions': succinct advice for all great chill-out albums."
