Album Reviews: Down Beat (8/95, p.44) - 4 Stars - Very Good - \"...gorgeous melodies with soulful reverence. The interplay is tantalizing as Peacock and DeJohnette follow Jarrett's relaxed and incandescent lead...\"
...I really liked this album. A christmas present, I think. I had previously heard 'Nine Million Bicycles' And the album was even better. My favourite s is Nine Million Bicycles, but some of the other songs are really good as well, particularly 'Thank You, Stars' and 'I Cried for You'. Melua has an astounding voice and really sings these songs with a brilliant passion. This is her second album after her debut, Call Off The Search. This album has reached Number 1 in the charts in many countries around the world, namely the UK., Poland, Norway and the Netherlands. The album includes a song which Katie wrote at the age of eighteen during the Iraq war, and fantastic covers of 'Blues in the night' and 'On the Road again'...

Advantages: There are a few nice songs on here Disadvantages: Too bland in the main
...albums have filler tracks, and with this I think we have found our first, and I doubt our last on this album. 'Everything Goes Around' again sees Jenny Frost with a writing credit. It picks up the tempo again, but there is just nothing about the song that grabs you and makes you listen. Everything feels samey might have been a better title.
'Somebody Like You' goes back to the 70's disco influence shown earlier in the album, and it is surprisingly good. The musical arrangement and vocal distortion works well, and if I was pushed to choose, then this would probably be my favourite track on the album, and just when a small amount of adrenaline escaped around my body, it is shocked back into hiding with the worst track on the album by far. 'Nothing In The World' is dire, and it sounds like something Norway would enter into Eurovision, where...

Advantages: Deathpunk Disadvantages: Just before Denim
..." is strangely prophetic considering was about to happen to Kurt Cobain and sounds like generic grunge but this is dark unintentional satire that pulls no punches and makes no apologies as all good satire should. "Black Chrome" Takes us back to brutal hardcore and is a bit generic for my tastes considering the 3 albums this band were about to unleash on the world this sound does them no justice. "Oslo Bloodbath Pt. III" again is just generic punk rock However "The Ballad of Gerda and Tore" is an epic tale of transvestitism in Norway and closes the album off nicely........ and leads us into a life of denim..............
"Two Transvestites Norway Style Hit it Off Pretty Good for a While"

Never is Forever is a pretty dam good album but for those new to the band I'd recommend getting "Scandinavian...
