Advantages: Looks nice, final chapter is impressive. Disadvantages: Lack of originality, entirely dull for most of running time.
Does Quentin Tarantino actually serve any kind of purpose? This question has been bothering me for a while, largely after the first Kill Bill, a film that annoyed me in a big way. I went into it expecting to enjoy it, and came out bored stupid after seeing two hours and what felt like badly assembled clips from other films. Looking back on his career, his trend is hardly a new one for him. Jackie Brown resembles a ton of 70s crime films. Reservoir Dogs is just a remake of Long hu feng yun, a 1987 Hong Kong film. Pulp Fiction appears to be his only original works, and deserves all of the praise that it gets. It's a stunning film. This aside though, there seems to be little point in what he does. Kill Bill Vol2 is no exception to this rule.
This is the point where I'd usually write a paragraph detailing the plot ...
Advantages: Amazing music, sharp script Disadvantages: Last third drags on a bit
Kill Bill Vol. 2 is the concluding installment of the Kill Bill saga. In this one the Bride (Uma Thurman) continues her vengeance against her ex-boss, Bill, and the two remaining members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad; his younger brother Budd, and Bill's latest flame Elle.
The first one had more of an eastern feel, this one is more like a western. So it's dusty, dirty and sweaty. Again Tarantino enlists the help of Ennio Morricone, the man who can take an ordinary western and make it legendary. His music is masterful, the lone trumpets in his compositions invoking a sense of isolation and the wild west, which is exactly the tone this film needs.
The acting is good again, helped by a sharp script. The action scenes are fewer and far between than the first one but equally as impressive. Again during the fight scenes ...
Advantages: Rivetting, dark Drama Disadvantages: None for me as a CSI fan.
CSI started out with CSI: Vegas, and this is the 2nd spin off from that.
The main difference with this compared to the other 2 programs is that it is undeniably darker in tone, grittier and gloomy.
You soon find out that the lead CSI is a no-nonsense First Grade Detective Mac Taylor played by Gary Sinise.
Mac is a former Marine from Chicago, and he is a someone who works to the rules, but has little time for bureaucracy, which can cause him problems with his superiors. But his ability in the field and leadership quality is such that he is tolerated. His attention to detail is second to none and it pays off a number of times. This quality to details is also something he presses his staff to maintain.
The rest of the team comprise of Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes) who is undeniably about the closest friend Mac has in ...

Personnel: Keith Jarrett (piano); Gary Peacock (upright bass); Jack DeJohnette (drums). Recorded at Power Station, New York, New York in January 1983. Not to forget the equal billing of drummer Jack DeJohnette and bassist Gary Peacock, without doubt Jarrett's most critically acclaimed line-up. They just know how to play together and feed off their respective dynamics. Most of Jarrett's best non-solo work has been with these two peerless musicians. Their interpretations are stunning, especially Bobby Troup and Leah Worth's 'Meaning Of The Blues' and an astonishingly good version of Billie Holiday's 'God Bless The Child', which after 15 minutes never once drags. Jarrett also sounds positively buoyant on the tracks he scats. Standards Vol 2 and Standards Live are also essential.
