Outkast are back and as Stanky as ever. Stankonia, the new release by the Kings of the Dirty South is a musical experience beyond funky, it's STANKY! Nowadays many hip-hop artists are becoming complacent, relying on the success of past albums to sell their new projects, Outkast continues to reinvent themselves always surpassing the quality of previous albums.

The intro sets the scene of what to expect. "Welcome to Stakonia. The place where all funky thangs are from. Do you wanna come?"

"Gasoline Dreams" propels the album into a great start. Pure funky beats are rapped over by the revitalised Big Boi and Andre. Great hook and a great tune.

"So Fresh So Clean" is another slice of Stank with a smooth mellow tune and hook.

Everyone has heard "Ms Jackson". Greats beats and production allows Outkast's story to flow, linked with a catchy hook.

"Snappin and Trappin" is some mo' funk but not up to the standards of the rest of the album. Good beats but the tune is a bit off.

Back to Outkasts trademark funk with "Spaghetti Junction". Listen to the lyrics on this one. Again a stanky tune.

"I'll call before i come" is a great tune. Not a great beat but a catchy tune and hook. You'll be singing along in no time. Andre sings/raps his verse and it sounds amazing.

You want an amazing party tune? Play "B.O.B" I've literally never heard better beats. I'm nodding my head as i type.

"Xplosion" has a great hook and a guest appearence from Cypress Hill. Good track.

Ready for a laugh? "We luv these hoez" is a classic track, great tune, beats and great lyrics.

"Humble Mumble"'s hook doesn't appeal to me but some of the rapping on this track is top class. Great production on this track as the beat switches. This will prove Outkasts lyrical competence if you haven't already agreed.

"Red Velvet" isn't a very good track. A weak tune and hook spoils great lyrics.

Another track that doesn't appeal to me is "Gangsta Shit". Again its the poor hook,tune and beats that ruin this one.

The third average track in a row is "Toilet Tisha". Some important messages in this track are lost due to the boring beats, hook and some of the vocals.

Getting better! "Slum Beatiful" returns to the funk with some stnky beats and great lyrical delivery. Hook could be better though.

The final tune "Stankonia (Stanklove)" is an epic finale to a mainly great album. Weighing in at nearly seven minutes long, this is a track and a half.

In between these 15 tracks are 9 interludes/skits/breaks. These add to the albums atmosphere and mainly do not distract from the music. Some are quite funny, however they can also sometimes be too long.

This is just a simple overview of the album. Outkast have included a track for everyone on this album. Every track is produced to perfection. You are 99% likely to like at least one track on this album, whatever your musical tastes.

I have to recommend this album. IT'S JUST TOO STANKY!
