When I was cruising around town for fun, a very familiar song suddenly played on the radio station. Yeah, of coarse I knew who it was, Outkast, with their extremely fortuitous and dominant single Ms. Jackson. It took me by equitable surprise to hear one of Outkast’s songs on the radio. I mean they put so much impenetrable work into their albums, it usually takes Outkast about one year or more to come out with their whole albums. They gave us an infinitesimal taste of what was to come when they released their single Ms. Jackson. Then, we wait eagerly for the album release. Yes, the moment of truth finally was achieved when it hit store shelves back close to around two years ago now. Outkast’s newest addition to their album releases “Stankonia” made a definite lasting impression on the way we view hip-hop today. I stood in line about an hour and a half to obtain this CD. I would defiantly do it again too.
In the CD Stankonia, there is a discrepancy of just about every music style that exists today. Blended with it are funky tunes, and deviant instrument variations.
One of Outkast’s essential formulas of success through all the years that have passed. They always have whipped up something for us to thoroughly luxuriate in. And they always seem to ameliorate at what they do when it comes to their different music styles. Also on Stankonia, Outkast has made an admirable amount of variation in the twenty-four track songs on their latest album. They have also intricately combined all their thoughts into groundbreaking lyrics. The last step for perfecting an album for the specifications of success.
Outkast has redefined the boundaries of music, taking artistry to a new level. With their recent release Aquemini in 1998, we never know what Outkast will launch at us next. They mix the fluent beats of a base, electric guitar, keyboard, and a CD scratcher. The result: An introductory style of music, unlike anything we have ever heard before. They rap “Dirty South” style, and can do it like no other. Outkast has stretched the requirements of regular music expectations.
Don’t everybody like the smell of gasoline? / Well burn muthaf*cka burn American dreams/ Don’t everybody like the taste of applepie? / Well snap for your slice of life I’m telling you why/ I hear that Mother Natures on Birth Control/ The coldest pimp be lookin’ for somebody to hold/ The highway up to Heaven got a crook on the toll/ Youth full of fire ain’t got nowhere to go, nowhere to go.
This song incorporates the instruments of the lead guitar, bass and drums. Also, added in are additional mixes to perfect this song. This might have many different meanings, depending mostly on the factor of what your interpretation of it is. By listening to the lyrics, the song is very direct and has a very catchy beat.
Ms. Jackson (track 5)
I’m sorry Ms. Jackson I am for real/ Never meant to make your daughter cry / I apologize a trillion times.
This song has many hot beats to listen to. Also featured are the following instruments: Keyboard, Piano, and Bass. Also this song was digitally mixed for the finishing touches. Listen closely to these lyrics when you buy the new album, they do tell a story. I will leave that for you to discover though.
B.O.B (track 11)
Yeah, inslumnational underground/ Thunder pounds when I stomp the ground/ Like a million elephants or silver back/ Orangutans you can’t stop a train/ Who want some don’t come unprepared/ I will be there but when I leave there/ Better be a household name.
This song is a really great jam off the Stankonia album. It has an extremely fast beat, great for dancing. Or try to rap the words as fast Andre 3000. If you’re really fast, you might come close. Featured are the following instruments: Keyboard, and guitar. Digital editing was also required to create the fast beats and rhymes.
Oukast’s Rock and Roll Influences
Outkast has had many musical influences and inspirations since they first started making music. Their tastes root back to the 1960’s when the band Led Zeppelin made history. Till the 1990’s when Nirvana redefined the definition of true rock. Various individual artists and guitar players Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page have paved the way for new types of music styles.
The Lyrics
Now that you have gotten a little preview of what the lyrics will be like on the album Stankonia. Let me tell you a little bit more about Outkast’s lyrics and what some of them mean. This is only based on what I know, and facts, not my decipher. Most of the songs Outkast writes are trying to say a message. They also might be telling a very meaningful story, which happens in life everyday. Or they incorporate their past experience in life into certain songs.
This is Outkast at their best
Every album Outkast releases gets better. This was one album that fits perfectly in that category. The album Stankonia everybody will really enjoy if you happen to be an Outkast fan this is an essential album to add to your collection. We can only wonder what Outkast will have in store for us in their next album.

Advantages: 3 strong singles, thought provoking lyrics, punchy aggressive beats and production Disadvantages: terrible interludes, a number of very poor tracks by Outkast standards
