music--in a mere four compact discs, but somehow Star Time does it. This boxed set charts Brown's early rise as a hard-hitting R&B-styled vocalist ("Please Please Please", "Try Me") and shows how his band-leading skills (one can't forget inventive players like saxophonist Maceo Parker, bassist Bootsy Collins, drummer Jabo Starks, and many others) changed the face of soul and invented funk in the 1960s and early '70s with impeccably timed ("Papa's Got a Brand New Bag"), highly rhythmic ("I Can't Stand It"), primal ("Licking Stick Licking Stick") hits. The box also does a definitive programming job on Brown's more spotty later years--another plus. This is where beginners should start, but several extended versions and rarities (such as "Papa", raised an octave on original release, at normal speed) make it a must for completists too. --Don Harrison

Advantages: A strong mix of tracks Disadvantages: Inconsistent
"Mr. Brown" is the second solo album from the Georgia Soul singer, Sleepy Brown. Heavily-associate with the Hip Hop acts in the area, such as OutKast, Dungeon Family and Goodie Mob, Sleepy Brown got his name up with big collaboration with these acts and producing for them as part of Organized Noize before comiong up with his first big label album in 2006.
1. "I'm Soul"
We are kicked of in a big way with a gentle one from the artist. It has him ease his way inot things by coming with a track which has him work withvery little in the way of lyrics, and simply repeat the chorus for the majority of the thing. Despite it lengthy duration, he keeps the listeners engaged from start to finish with it.

This is the main single off the album and has Sleepy work alongside The Neptunes for an up ...
Advantages: Smells fab, works very well, does as it says Disadvantages: Silly lid on the tube
I apologise for the title!
I am literally always trying to find the perfect shampoo and conditioner and I love trying new brands. I don?t always go for what is necessarily best for my hair; I usually go for what makes me hair smell nice!
I noticed this last time I was in Boots. I like Boots because they do a lot of the travel size mini?s enabling you to try good brands without buying the big ones, spending a fortune and then realising that they are not for you.
JamesBrown isn a favourite hairdresser to the stars, and Kate Moss is a huge fan - if he's good enough for her, he's good enough for me! He is also UK style director for GHD hair products.
This shampoo comes in a very plain and simple white tube. It looks more like a cream than a shampoo; I had to look twice, to check I wasn?t buying more smoothing serum or finishing ...
Advantages: An album worth owning, though not his strongest. Disadvantages: A couple of really forgettable tracks.

---ALL THE LOST SOULS---
-1973-
The album kicks off with '1973' the track which was released as the first single. It's a pleasant upbeat tune which reminisces about times in 1973, with a woman he knew then. It is about the good times they had partying, clubbing and staying out all night. The song conjures up images of disco and glitter balls and all night dancing. He sings "As times go by I will always be in a club with you in 1973. Singing "Here we go again" He sings of growing older and how things change. It's very nostalgic and full of atmosphere and I have to say the song has grown on me tremendously since first hearing it. It opens with strong keyboard and electric guitar with a good rhythmic drum beat, lively and vibrant throughout.-
---ONE OF THE BRIGHTEST STARS---
This is a lovely song with beautiful lyrics. It seems to ...

Album Notes
STAR TIME includes a 64-page booklet with three essays - brief appreciations by writer Nelson George and Brown's longtime tour manager Alan Leeds and a longer history by 2 of the box's producers - a complete discography and an introduction penned by the Godfather of Soul himself. Personnel includes: James Brown (vocals, piano, organ); Bobby Byrd (vocals. organ); Phelps "Catfish" Collins (guitar); Maceo Parker (tenor & baritone saxophones); St. Clair Pickney, Pee Wee Ellis, Clifford "Ace King" MacMillian (tenor saxophone); Al "Brisco" Clark (baritone saxophone); Lewis Hamlin (trumpet); William "Bootsy" Collins, Bernard Odum (bass); John "Jabo" Starks, Nat Kendrick (drums). Producers include: Ralph Bass, Syd Nathan, James Brown, Hal Neely, Afrika Bambaataa. Compilation producer: Harry Weinger. There are few box sets that can match the greatness of James Brown's STARTIME. Backed by such brilliant musicians as Melvin and Maceo Parker, Bootsy Collins and Bobby Byrd, Brown created some of the most intense, soulful music ever recorded. Collecting seventy two tracks that let you hear why Brown is hailed as "the hardest working man in show business," STARTIME is packed with the best R&B and funk that money can buy. From early-'60s R&B hits like "Please, Please, Please" and late-'60s funk essentials like "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" and "Sex Machine" to the massively influential '70s funk grooves "Funky Drummer" and "The Payback," STARTIME gives you all the James Brown basics. This set is a monument to the life and music of one of the most colorful and inspired performers in popular music. STARTIME also comes with a 64-page booklet that features rare and wonderful photos and essays by Nelson George and several other noted critics. Essential.
Album Reviews
Rolling Stone (5/13/99, p.52) - Included in Rolling Stone's "Essential Recordings of the 90's." Rolling Stone (5/30/91) - 5 Stars - Classic - "...a staggering collection....goes well beyond the usual hits 'n' rarities approach of boxed retrospectives to get at the essence of Brown's development from gospel-style shouter...to Soul Brother No. 1...and from God-father of Soul...to grandfather of rap..." Rolling Stone (4/18/91) - "...The success of STAR TIME should pave the way for further examination of the James Brown catalog....the box is an ideal way to reintroduce Brown's massive body of work to a public more familiar with his legend than with the records themselves..." Q (6/91) - 5 Stars - Indespensable - "...Brown is one of the half- dozen most important, most influential individual oeuvres of the entire rock-and-roll era: the equal of Dylan, The Beatles and Motown....This isn't just the history of one artist; it is literally the history of the groove, the beat that can't be beat..." Entertainment Weekly (6/12) - "...soul history as a headlong rush of killer hooks, brain-melting horn blasts, and a scream that fuses passion and violence in one initiable call of the wild..." - Rating: A
