Advantages: fantastic song and B-side Disadvantages: none, really.
Starbucks - Ah, I remember the first time I heard Starbucks. It was last May, I was at the front of a tiny, overcrowded room with a stage digging into my legs, mere centimetres from Jason when he announced a new song called Starbucks, which made us laugh. I don’t remember much of the song, apart from the great “don’t want your job in Starbucks” bit.
I really like Starbucks, and it fits mighty well in the tracklisting of the album (Hi-Fi ... ...establishment-defying chant at the end. Starbucks rocks and was a great choice for a single, despite only making the top 20. Bah.
Monterey - Strange plinky guitar and JP singing about life in America. Not their finest B-Side hour but maybe I need to listen to it more. Nice and laid back, in the vein of The Springs (also from Hi-Fi Serious)
Coming Around - I LOVE THIS SONG. Could easily have gone on the album ... more

I really like Starbucks, and it fits mighty well in the tracklisting of the album (Hi-Fi Serious, soon to come). Listening to it again, I thought I’d heard it before and it turns out I have. Well, the intro anyway. The bit with the baaah-dadadadada sounds much like the start of an Offspring song (one from the beginning of Americana). But anyway. The rest of the song is much more in character for A than the first single from Hi-Fi Serious (Nothing) and of course has the great crowd-pleasing establishment-defying chant at the end. Starbucks rocks and was a great choice for a single, despite only making the top 20. Bah.

Coming Around - I LOVE THIS SONG. Could easily have gone on the album and possibly been a single. The video would have been huge on music TV. It’s more bouncy rock that makes me want to jump around (a dangerous activity in my room as the floor is like a minefield) and it has a wondrous bit for the intro, I think it’s keyboards. And it has the obligatory shouty bit for the guys to join in with. A great great song. (Possibly a single, as they made a video for it? Something similar happened with Old Folks, I believe. More on this when I know for sure)
Coming Around Video - I also love the video, but that’s because I’m in it somewhere. You probably can’t tell it’s me, but that isn’t the point. We were queueing outside the Astoria in London, laughing at the twats in Slipknot hoodies in front of us, when someone yelled “it’s Yin!” and one of the Perry twins came out holding a video camera and filmed us all. That bit is faded in and out of a shot of the band on stage so it’s not clear who is who in the queue (especially towards the end, he didn’t dare get too close). The rest of the video is the band performing Coming Around, which was recorded in the soundcheck, and also shots from various points in the gig - the bit with fake snow coming down is from I Love Lake Tahoe, which caused ecstasy in many A fans that night. All I remember is jumping around and screaming a lot. Anyway, there are many shots of the stage and crowd from above, so give me and my mates a wave if you get this.
Get this single if you can find it cheap, don't pay £4.99 for it now cos you should have bought it when it first came out! (This anger applies to UK people only)
