Stars - Simply Red
I wanna fall from the stars
Simply Red have been around for a long long time now but I think their music is still relevant and great. I think they are one of those bands who have fans of all ages due to their easy listening, non offensive type music. Apparently, according to an article I read, Simply Red got their name because it was the lead singer's (Mick Hucknall's) nickname due to his red hair. I never knew this fact but it does make sense! It does always make me laugh though at how he has such good luck with the ladies. I mean, I know he's a big music star and probably has loads of money but he really is rather weird looking in my opinion but always seems to date gorgeous women!
Simply Red's music is classified as soul music with influences from blue-eyed soul, new romantic, rock, jazz and lovers rock. I do find their music very smooth and quite sexy at times and definitely a great date night CD to have. I think it's because they are so easy to listen to that they have so many fans. Apparently they have sold over 50 million albums in a 25 year career, very impressive.
My favourite album of theirs is Stars as it contains a lot of my favourite songs of theirs. Stars is the fourth album from Simply Red and was released in 1991. Apparently when it was released it became the best-selling album for two years running in Europe and the UK. According to an article I read, in 2000 Q magazine placed Stars at number 80 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever. I would have to agree with this as it tends to be one of the albums that everyone has in his or her collection.
Some of my favourite songs on this album include For your Babies and Stars. The rest of the songs on the album include:
1. Something got me started 2. Stars 3. Thrill Me 4. Your Mirror 5. She's got it bad 6. For your babies 7. Model 8. How could it fall 9. Freedom 10. Wonderland
