Steps were a very popular British Pop Group. They were in the charts from 1997 to 2001.They were a girl/boy group and the members consisted of Claire Richards , Lisa-Scottlee , Faye Tozer, Ian 'H' Watkins and Lee Latchford-Evans.
* Claire Richards * The youngest member yet the one with the best voice.Claire was born in Middlesex on August 17th 1977.Prior to Steps she was in a band called TSD , they had a short taste of fame and toured with the likes of Ant n Dec.She was the lead singer in Steps. After leaving steps she and fellow steps member H formed a duo simply called 'H & Claire' In Spring 2007 Claire give birth to a baby boy called Charlie.
*Faye Tozer * Born On November 14th 1975 in Northampton.Faye was often known as the smiley one. After leaving steps she sang a duet with Opera star Russel Watson called 'Someone Like Me'. Faye is currently playing Eva Cassidy in a west end musical.
*Lisa Scott-lee * Lisa is from Rhyl in North Wales. She is a trained dancer and trained at the italia conti school. She is most probably best known as the 'poorest' singer out of the girls in the band. She is married to ex Hear'say member Johnny Shentall. She is currently expecting her first child.
*Ian 'H' Watkins* Ian is from South Wales. His nickname is H because he is always hyperactive.Last year he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother. He also came out as homosexual.
*Lee Latchford-Evans* He was the oldest member of the group and the one who sang the least. After leaving Steps he appeard on the programme 'Upper Street' where he joined four other ex-boyband members to form a band.He was sacked from the band by the other members.
*Songs *
5,6,7,8 - Their debut song released in November 1997.It's a country and Western style song.Lee does some rapping on this song and the rest of the group join in on the chorus. This song was the only steps song not to reach the top 10 in the charts.
Last thing on my mind - Originally recorded by the band Banarama. The girls each sing a verse and the the rest of the band join in on the chorus.
One For Sorrow - A up-beat ballad beautifully sang by Claire. One For Sorrow reached number 2 in the Uk Charts.
Better Best Forgotten - An up-beat song which makes you wanna get up and dance.
Heartbeat - Another up-beat ballad. Three choruses , each one sang by each girl. The boys join in on the chorus.
Tragedy - A cool cover of the Begees song.Claire and Faye sing a verse each with the rest of the band joining in on the chorus. This song has a famous dance routine (the hands on the side of your head move! - if your a steps fan you'll know what i mean! hehe! )
Love's Got A Hold On My Heart - A great summer tune!
After The Love Has Gone - This song has a cool chinese theme to it.This song was special to Lisa because she's quater chinese.
Deeper Shade Of Blue - A typical steps beat yet with a different approach.
Summer Of Love - Another great summer song with a spanish theme to it.It also included some Spanish Words.
Stomp - An excellent party tune.
The Way You Make Me Feel - This was a good New Year song. Each member had a line or two each in this song.
Here And Now - An up-beat-wanna-get-and-dance kinda song! Great vocals on this track.
Chain Reaction - This is one of my favourites.A cover of Diana Ross's Chain Reaction. Each member has equal amounts of singing on this track.
Words Are Not Enough - The last ever Steps song released , So this song holds special memories for the band and fans.

The band split up on Boxing Day 2001. Many fans were angry after recieving their new merchandise (including a calendar) only to be told a day later that the band had split.I remember I recieved a steps calendar for christmas - the band had already split before I'd put it up!
Individual members of steps have apparently said they'd 'never - say - never - to a steps ruinion! Fingers crossed!
Thanks for Reading :)
