Advantages: A great introduction to Stevie Wonder packed with classics Disadvantages: Not as good as owning all the albums for the true Stevie fan

At The Close Of A Century is a 4 cd compilation of 70 selected Stevie Wonder tracks spanning his career from 1963 up to 1996, with a 92 page accompanying booklet. Stevie Wonder is a soul legend and musical genius (who has won over 20 Grammy Awards) if by some remote chance you are not aware. He has been and continues to be an inspiration for many artists and many of his songs have been covered by others.
The 4 cds are in chronological order and start off with "Fingertips Pts 1 & 2", a recording of a live performance of him aged just 12, singing, playing bongos and also harmonica. The drummer happened to be a certain Marvin Gaye. This track is one of many highlights for me personally - it seems to capture the essence of soul. A young, unrefined Stevie delivers a sweet performance ...
The album ‘Wild Hearts’, has got some of her classic songs such as, ‘Stand Back’, ‘Nothing ever changes’, and ‘If anyone falls’.
A stranger to Stevie’s music will probably think that she has a frog in her throat and she needs to Hhhmmm to clear it, but her unique sound is what made her successful solo artist as well as a Fleetwood Mac band member.
She began her solo career in 1981, I guess one of her highlights would be getting asked by President Clinton to perform ‘Don’t Stop’ with Fleetwood Mac, at his inauguration celebration in 1993
She has such an extraordinary voice it’s not to get addicted to her!
Tracks on the album are:
Wild Heart
If Anyone Falls
Gate And Garden
Enchanted
Nightbird
Stand Back
I Will Run To You
Nothing Ever ...
Advantages: It's just fab, fab, FAB Disadvantages: None for me
17 great Stevie Wonder ballads on 1 CD. I got a really great bargain when I bought it from Ebay for £3.00 (even though I'd already got it......don't ask, I'm just very stupid and my memory's really bad - I think it must be my age. But at least I've now got one for the house and one for the car)
It contains some of my very favourites - My Cherie Amour, You are the sunshine of my life and Lately to name just 3. AND it has my very very favourite - Stay Gold. What a fab song!
It is, as always, very easy listening with Stevie's usual fantastic harmonies
What a genius this man is. This is a must have for anyone's CD collection. ...
