We Want Moore... Review ofWild Frontier [Remastered] - GaryMooreby

Advantages: imaginative celtic rock. Disadvantages: dont expect the Gary Moore of the blues days.
...GaryMoore became best known for his blues period in the 1990s but we should remember that he has moved through a wide range of musical styles, all based in the rock format, but all with very distinct flavours. After learning his trade with Skid Row and a brief stint with the young Thin Lizzy, as well as recording as the GaryMoore Band, the guitarist spent a number of years in Jazz rock band Colosseum II. Following that solo albums and another stint with Thin Lizzy resulted in the now famous Black Rose album, and the single Parisiene Walkways. A long on off friendship with Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott comes to an end with Lynotts death in 1986, and this album was released the following year. The songs seem to take Moore back to his roots and is considered by many to be his best non-blues album, a flurry of which were to follow...

Advantages: Diverse and contrasting styles and sounds Disadvantages: It's not entirely typical of Gary Moore
...I was slightly bemused to find GaryMoore tucked away in the ‘Hard Rock, Metal, and Punk’ music category of Ciao! With an album titled ‘Ballads and Blues’ it seemed somewhat inappropriate. But this album is not entirely typical of GaryMoore, more a taste of his ability to offer a rock guitar experience to many different genres.
This immensely talented vocalist and superb musician offers a balanced combination of contrasting style on this classic 14 track album. Powerful guitar backs beautifully thought provoking, if at times somewhat haunting, lyrics in a style that could really only be described as a blend of rock/pop, with a touch of jazz and of course plenty of ballad and blues.
The highlights of this album in my opinion are as follows......
~ Always gonna love you ~

Undeniably good Review ofWild Frontier [Remastered] - GaryMooreby

Advantages: Gary Moore comes into his own Disadvantages: I had to admit I was wrong about him
...I've always been on the fence as far as GaryMoore is concerned, I think it's because of how alike he sounds to Phil Lynott and I can't decide if that's a good or bad thing.
There's definately no denying it though, this album ROCKS. At first I was dubious to listen to it, after being told by my dad how 'great' it was. But after listening to it, I couldn't help admitting how much I loved it.
This time, I didn't mind his likeness to Phil, sure he has the same tone of voice, the same accent, but how he projects and produces his music is completely different. It's more rugged, more of a blues sound, something completely its own.
'Over The Hills And Far Away is by far my favourite song of the whole album. It reminds me of a book, because it tells a story. It keeps you interested and as soon as you hear the first line you're hooked because...
