Advantages: A whole hatful of Al - 12 tracks of enhanced madness! Disadvantages: I skip a track or 2 to get to the 'even better' stuff
The God of Parody reaches into his box of satire delights and bestows fresh nuggets upon us. This is an all round 'hum-dinger' of an album.
As it's my duty, even my raison d'etre, to bring un-mainstream music to the masses, I've been a WeirdAl fan for ages. Most of you will know the popular stuff like his Michael Jackson parodies, 'Fat' and 'Eat it' but there is still a sad lack of Al in the charts. C'mon people, if that damn Crazy Frog can get to Number one... Sheesh!!!
Snap Judgements
1. Couch Potato
Parody of Lose yourself... Eminem never sounded so good. Fast talkin' TV trashin'
2. Hardware Store
Rythmic and complicated. Watch for the mid-section then checkout the lyrics on the inlay to find out what just happened. Frenetic.
3. Trash Day
Parody of 'It's gettin hot in here'... Don't particularly like ...
Advantages: A good laugh Disadvantages: Can get old, quickly
WeirdAlYankovic's weird twist on songs can make even your grandma giggle, but if you listen to the album more than three times you will start to get a bit bored. Don't get me wrong, it is still fun to see other peoples reaction to the songs, but is really an album that you can only listen to a couple of times, leave it till you don't remember it and then listen to it again. You would be better off getting the best of weird alls videos which are a lot more fun and do not get old. This album does what it says on the tin, makes you laugh, makes you sing along, possibly even makes you get dreadlocks, but it just doesn't beat a classic album such as dark side of the moon (pink floyd) or crime of the century (supertramp)
Tracks to look out for:
Amish paradise
The night santa went crazy ...
Advantages: makes you laugh out loud Disadvantages: takes a while to get into some songs
weirdalyankovic creates the funniest songs and tunes ever in my opinion. he turns the lyrics in a song to make them extremely funny and it certainly works. e.g "i want it that way"- by the backstreet boys - turns into "which backstreet boy is gay". when i first listened to one of his songs "amish paradise" ("gangsters paradise") it reduced me to tears. dont get me wrong there was a couple of songs that were quite boring or took a while to get into but the songs are very funny. i got a friend to listen to one of the tracks and their reaction is priceless as they dont expect it. i have no idea how weirdalyankovic comes up with the lyrics but for me theres only one word to describe them- genius!! ...

Album Notes
This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other. Personnel include: Weird Al Yankovic (vocals, various instruments); Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz (various instruments, programming); Jim West (guitar, banjo, keyboards, programming, background vocals); Steve Jay (banjo, flute, synthesizer, bass guitar, background vocals); Lee Thornburg (trumpet); Tommy Johnson (tuba). Recording information: The Pass, Los Angeles, CA. Weird Al Yankovic's STRAIGHT OUTTA LYNWOOD further assures his heavyweight title as the king of pop parody. Chamillionaire's "Ridin'Dirty" is spun into a self-conscious poke at race when it becomes "White and Nerdy," and the national boundaries of Green Day's "American Idiot" are shifted in "Canadian Idiot." Elsewhere, Weird Al takes on the Killers, Usher, and the Black Eyed Peas, but he also contributes several originals that display the same goofy, satirical edge as his comic revisions of the hits. Longtime fans of Weird Al's shtick will have plenty to enjoy, and the DualDisc version, which contains animation, karaoke versions, and a featurette, is icing on the cake.
