Advantages: Experimental, good mix of rock and electronica Disadvantages: Too much screaming!!!
This is Idiot Pilots first album, recorded by Michael Harris (vocals, guitar and bass) and Daniel Anderson, (vocals, guitar, keyboards and programming) a duo from Washington, US. And giving the fact that they were only 18 when they recorded 'Strange We Should Meet Here', it's a pretty damn good first time album for as young as they were.

A Day in a Life of a Pool Shark is the first single I heard and watched on MTV 2, two guys beating the shit out of each other, how else to promote your album. Starts off with a cool electronic keyboard loop, and then bursts back and forth with thrashing guitar and screaming vocals.

Placing the genre of Idiot Pilot, they seem to draw a line between Electronic and Alternative Rock, you found yourself listening to one track, soothing, calm and ambience, only to be greeted with the next track with screaming vocals, heavy bass beats and thrashing guitar riffs.

Other tracks, like, 'To Buy a Gun', 'Violent Tango', 'Open Register' and 'Spark Plug' has the same pattern mixing up acoustic guitar, electronic mix and all out distorted guitar riffs. The dance tracks are interesting blend in a sea of screaming, 'Les Lumieres' is a perfect track to make you take a breather and relax from the noise, using harmonic and synthesiser, with a driving bass beat.
One of the huge faults of the album, is the over use of screaming, it works really well on some tracks, but, gets over used on the album in general. 'Nightlife' and 'Arrhythmia' are good examples; good use of vocals, snappy dance beat, but, feels tainted with the screaming vocals as a distraction.
As for comparing it with other artists, it falls into a bit of everything. I've heard people comparing it with Radiohead, but I'm not really a huge Radiohead fan to give comment. Personally I thought they had elements of The Cooper Temple Clause (Kick up the Fire and Let the Flames Break Loose) and Biffy Clyro (Infinity Land).
Despite its few faults, this first album in general is really good, experimental, different and an interesting use of mixture in genres.
Advantages: Amazing range of songs, boasts originality. Disadvantages: Can become droning if played entirely.
=== Idiot Pilot - Strange We Should Meet Here (2005) ===
Electronic Rock duo, Idiot Pilot, released their debut _Strange We Should Meet Here_ on Reprise Records in 2005, and quickly found an emerging fan base in the alternative scene. The album was recorded prior to them signing to Reprise, but was remastered and repackaged for a more widespread release. The album runs for 14 tracks and little under an hour, featuring a diverse range of sounds from ... ...songs leave you with a strange feeling and, possibly stranger, leaving you wanting more and more. Any person who enjoys more thought-provoking compositions and likes to be kept guessing will love this work; it truly is one of a kind and a promising debut. The album is no longer a new release and can be picked up at a more than reasonable price. Highly recommended! ...
