...I have only just been introduced to Sugar / Husker Du and Bob Mould and I am converted. This Album By Sugar was released on the Creation Record Lable back in 1992. Unfortunately, it didn't really sell well, but there is a growing number of fans still buying the album now. The Singles were A Good Idea, Changes and If I can't change your mind. I'm not sure if any others were released. A Good Idea is for me one of the stand out songs. It's about a couple going to a river and she wanting to feel the water running over her, so he drowns her. strange lyric content admittedly, but a fantastic song and bass line. Hoover Dam, Fortune Teller and If I Can't Change Your Mind along with A Good Idea are my favorite tracks on this album.

I don't really know why they chose this as the album title. It's definitely not their best. I'm not saying I don't like it, I like it very much, but all other tracks are much better. Perhaps they chose this because it has such a damn cool name, and because they were able to make that witty play on words (See title of op) on the cover? The song starts with very very slow guitar plucks that sounds like when you hit a triangle (!). Then the drumming comes in, very slowly but surely. Like: Dum ... dum dum ... dum dum dum! Then the bass starts exactly at the same pace, until Anthony (in a very deep voice) starts singing the obviously dirty lyrics; "Blood sugar sucker fish, in my dish. How many pieces do you...

...out improvisation that would in most cases be boring but here conjures up the mental image of 4 guys in the studio truly working with and for each other. A defining moment of youth for millions, if you only buy one Red Hot Chili Peppers album, make sure it's Blood Sugar Sex Magik....
