Their pervious album 'Count Your Blessings' set the benchmark for any other Bring Me The Horizon album to be released after. The previous album was a truly heavy album which is what would you would have expected from this album. Right??
Wrong. This album is alot less heavy compared to their previous album, their lack of actual 'screaming' is very noticable. In an interview with Metal Hammer magazine, Oli Sykes stated that this album is "100% different" from Count Your Blessings. He also said "We experimented a lot more I think, more with other styles of music we all enjoy, using different instruments and technology, by bringing a lot of digital stuff to the table. Every track is different.
Despite all this it is still a very good album. There is still alot of power behind the music and it is still possible to mosh or headbang to. If they had incorporated a little more screaming in to some of their songs this album would have been so much better. However some of the songs such as Chelsea Smile and The Comedown are nothing but amazing.
The Verdict
This album is definately worth buying, especially if you are a BMTH fan such as me. The band has clearly tried something new in this and has both succeeded and failed. However If you are looking for something deathly heavy I would look elsewhere.
Advantages: Production, Vocals, General heavy sound, clarity, maturity, certain riffs Disadvantages: A little Weak, Boring, Droll, Repetative
Well, it took a while but I've finally managed to get my head around this CD. A different approach, a different sound, a new degree of maturity. It's pretty obvious from the outset that the band (or someone close to them) sat down and said "we've got the ear of thousands of people, now it's time to give them something a little different" - a lot of bands try new things after a few releases, especially when popularity grows in their camp. I don't ... ...were a fashion, a fad, a joke among most metal fans. Instead, of fading into the background through repetition of what the kids in 2006 wanted they've converted themselves into something that even Metal Hammer magazine could not deny the credentials of. Some fans from the early days may find this new punky sound (which matches The Gallows at times) a little hard to swallow but in the end it's worth it. There are some stand out tracks in this CD (Chelsea ...

The music is supposed to be much more mellow compared to their previous albulm and Ep: Count your blessings and This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For. I think BMTH fans will enjoy this new work from the band. :) ...

Advantages: Loud, pumping and lots of screaming! Disadvantages: Should have had more songs
In my opinion this album is a definate hit! I loved it despite the fact it is different from their previous stuff. Still hard core screamo metal of course but lead singer oli's voice seems more tame and trained. Songs such as Diamonds aren't forever and Football season is over will make you wanna go mental! Also featured in the album a little dig at controvertial disagreement between Oli sykes (vocals) and a fan that claims he urinated on her... ...

Album Notes
The British metal combo Bring Me The Horizon caused a minor stir with the release of their debut mini-album in 2004 and, having released their first full-length in 2006, gone on to amass considerable popularity for the release of 'Suicide Season'. The band's distinctive deathcore sound and continued controversial rock 'n' roll antics has ensured demand for new material, and it comes in a more considered approach this time around. Songs are still extremely heavy, but there are also lighter moments that signify the band's musical growth.
