why I like Roy Orbison

He was born in 1913 and died of a heartattack in 1988. Well, I have been listen to Roy Orbison for many years, and I just want to tell others that he is just the best. the Danish colllection my mom send me, is simply the best. I think that you can hear him anywhere, and that his voice is just great. When my daddy died of cancer, I was listening to Roy Orbison, some of his songs just got me hanging in there,especially the song" In Dreams " Everyday when I drove home from the hospital crying, I was listening to him, and it maked me wanna go on, maybe it was just, because I needed something, but anyhow, his music is just great and lovely. And the music are not just for old people!!!!! The album is called The Danish collection - "The very best of Roy Orbison" The songs on this album that I just love is: In Dreams California Blue ...

Roy the Romantic

Advantages: One of the greatest voices - and 41 tracks
Disadvantages: Lack of date information for tracks [see text]

? If not, this will surprise you, though personally I'm not over-keen on these two songs and would much rather hear him on his own material. In fact, this collection is so diverse that I find myself wondering how appropriate the title 'Love Songs' is. Especially when it includes his versions of 'Land of 1000 Dances' and 'Run Baby Run'. Roy Orbison sings Wilson Pickett and the Newbeats? Well, yes - and very well too. But love songs? Er, let's not split hairs. What I will register a (little) whinge about is the packaging. Several of these recordings are listed in the booklet as being © 1997 or 2000. Are they all remixes? All right, I know that a lot of people who buy love song compilations may not be unduly bothered about such niceties, but Roy died in 1988 and I for one would have appreciated knowing the date they were ...

ROY KEANE - THE PLAYING YEARS

Advantages: Nice insight into the controversial aspects to Roy's playing career
Disadvantages: Doesn't cover his time at Celtic, or any of his managerial work

for a thuggish disregard for other players or the rules, but more the culmination of Roy?s frustration at his or the team?s poor performance. The book is neatly displayed in chapters of thirty or so pages each, with a smattering of colour photographs to further break up the 290 pages of narrative. There is also an interesting interview Roy gave to Tom Humphries just two days before the infamous World Cup walkout. All in all this is a cracking read and really opened my eyes to Roy Keane the player, and Roy Keane the man. Far from coming across as a thug who couldn?t control his temper he is shown to be a man that cares deeply about the game and the teams he played for. And lest we forget, he is a devout family man who loves his wife, kids and dogs, and when all is said and done what?s not to admire in that. Despite the book being seven years old now ...
