The 1980s is conspicuously devoid of influential acts. Perhaps Prince, The Smiths or The Pixies could be cited as being responsible for OutKast, The Libertines and Nirvana repectively. Other than those three acts, that?s it, right? Well, not quite. In the mid-80s a band came out of the USA from so far out on the leftfield of music that it wasn?t until their radio-friendly fifth album, 1991?s The Real Ramona, that they managed to register any mainstream attention. They were called Throwing Muses and were lead by half-sisters Tanya Donelley (who later went onto form indie also-rans Belly) and the creator of this album, Kristin Hersh. God Bless the Ugly

Advantages: Great diverse Kristin Hersh solo album
Disadvantages: You'll probably have to pay for yours!

Sky Motel as an album, has a distinct feel and identity. It fits together well and for me unlike some other albums I like, it would not be displeasurable to hit play again once it reaches the end. Sun, Sea and Sunnies

Advantages: Will not leak in your bag

But it was not till the 80's that it was realised suncreams helped prevent damage to our skin and not till the 90's that it was proved by scientists. However with all this knowledge now, How many of you are careful about making sure you never go out without protection. Children are most at risk from the sun as their bodies don't produce melanin which helps protect the skin from the UV rays. How many times have you let the kids go out and play without thinking of their skin? I know I have. And I am even worse with myself.
